The view from the cottage is on to Loch Eil and the surrounding hills and mountains.

Fishing on the River Shiel for salmon and sea-trout can occasionally be arranged through the owners.

Rowanhill overlooks the river and lies beside the very minor road serving the crofting area of Moss about two miles from the thriving village of Acharacle which is served by two hotels, a post office and tearoom, an excellent village store with all provisions, a bakery, fish and chip shop and an Outdoors Shop. This is an ideal location from which to explore Lochaber and Ardnamurchan.
