Weather in Fort William and Lochaber

The western Highlands have the most unpredictable weather in the UK - and certainly get their share of rainfall at times. This isn't to say the weather is always bad - often it turns out much better than expected.

Nonetheless, for up to date forecasts you might like to try the following forecasts:

BBC 5 Day Forecast General forecast for Fort William.

Mountain Weather Information Service Forecast This often seems more accurate than the BBC and is recommended for the hills.

For the summer, try the Midge Forecast

In winter, walkers venturing onto snow should check the Avalanche Forecasts - separate forecasts are available for Glencoe, Lochaber and Creag Meagaidh, all in this region.

These are available on the Mountain Plan Blog for both summer and winter conditions.
