Hillphones

The Hill Phones Service allows you to check where deer stalking is taking place within 13 major hillwalking areas. Recorded telephone messages provide information about when and where stalking is happening and which routes are unlikely to be affected. The messages are supposed to be updated regularly. Calls are charged at the normal national rate.

August is the peak deer stalking season although the season runs from 1 July to 20 October. Stalking does not normally take place on Sundays.

You can pick up the annual distinctive green and brown Hill Phones leaflet in many outdoor shops, hostels, Tourist Information Centres, and sometimes in outdoor magazines. The Hill Phones website also provides all the information you will need http://www.snh.org.uk/hillphones/

Walking can be dangerous and is done entirely at your own risk. Information is provided free of charge; it is the walkers responsibility to check it and navigate using a map and compass.
