This waymarked circuit climbs through the forest plantations on the lower slopes of Cruach Tairbeirt above the village. Once such a route would have had stunning views of Loch Lomond but the best of these are now obscured by the height of the trees.
Summary

1. Begin the walk from Tarbet railway station. Pass under the railway to reach an information board giving details of the route, which is waymarked in red, and another yellow-waymarked path that links from Tarbet to Arrochar. Turn right at the path junction and follow the route through the fine deciduous woodland.
2. When the path approaches a burn it turns left to climb alongside it. Part way up, ignore the waymarked branch to the right (which is the return route) and continue to climb steeply up the path by the burn. At the top of this climb the path swings right and begins to contour the slope. The walk passes a bench which once would have been a magnificent viewpoint; it still looks down Loch Lomond but the vista is partly blocked by the great height of the conifers below.
3. Continue along the path, ignoring an ascending branch path to the left, to eventually descend to reach and cross a footbridge. There is a picnic table just above the path at this point. The route now begins a steady descent through the trees, swinging to the right when it reaches a drystone dyke. Cross another footbridge before passing through a gap in the wall; the are soon good views towards Loch Lomond over the Tarbet Hotel. When the path approaches a burn do not short-cut across it but follow the loop slightly uphill to rejoin the outward path. Turn left to retrace your steps back to the path junction above the station, turning left again to return to the start.
