1. Park at the large car park off the A83 at Succoth just to the west of Arrochar. The walk is waymarked in blue; it begins on the opposite side of the road to the car park. The wide main path ascends the hillside through the trees in a series of easy angled and wide zig-zags. The effort is worthwhile in the improving views over Loch Long. Continue up the path, avoiding the temptation to short-cut which causes erosion. The ascent ends at a bench where the path crosses a forestry track. There are superb views from here over and down the loch and across to the peaked summit of Ben Lomond.
2. Turn right and follow the forestry track across the hillside, with great views ahead up Glen Loin. When it forks, take the right branch which descends gently into the forests. Soon the track crosses a small bridge with a pretty little waterfall on the left.
3. Pass the barrier and turn right at the bottom of the descent to leave the forest. The track now leads out into the fields of Glen Loin, with pleasant woodland clothing the hillsides opposite. In the centre of the glen the track turns right and leads to Succoth village - really a residential extension of Arrochar. The track becomes a road and dog-legs to the right near the bus stop. It then slopes back down to the A83 and to the start of the walk. Cross the road carefully to return to the car park.
