A level circular walk mainly through forestry with some open sections and views over the water in places. A good leg stretcher before or after the ferry to Lochaline.

Fishnish Forestry Commission car park. Map and directions.
Start from the forestry commission car park near Fishnish - to reach it turn off the main Salen to Craignure road (A849) onto the road to the Fishnish ferry to Lochaline (A884) and then look out for the car park turning very soon on the left. Begin the walk by continuing along the track at the back of the car park into the forestry. This walk is mainly in the trees although the second half has more open and sea views to look forward to - it follow the green markers. Head through a gate and keep following the track. At a bend the remains of a house can be seen on the right. Originally there were four villages in this forestry area which would have mainly been croftland. At a junction turn right to head towards the sea.
A clear area allows a view to the water and then continue past Fishnish Point and eventually through a gate to pass a turning area. Follow the track down towards the ferry road. Just before the modern ferry slipway, the old harbour and slip can be glimpsed. This was used to load cattle which were shipped across the Sound of Mull to join large cattle droves in Ardnamurchan from where the cattle would be walked to market in Falkirk.
At the road, there is a chance to watch the ferry and grab a snack at the cafe by following the road to the left. Otherwise take a little dog leg to the left and cross the road to pick up a path just off the road and turn right along it. This quickly leads to the track leading to the Fishnish viewpoint car park. Head left along the track and continue past the vehicle barrier rather than turning towards the car park.
This section has better views over the Sound of Mull where the larger ferry serving Coll and Tiree can often be seen. The rugged hills of Morven and the forests at Fiunary can be seen across the water. Pass a seat and continue on the track as the red route leading to Garmony Point goes off to the left. The track climbs slightly uphill, keep on it as it bends right and don't take the fainter track straight ahead. Head back through the forest soon reaching the road. Cross it to return to the car park at the start.
