This short walk across croft land (best kept dog-free) leads from the pretty bay and cottages at Kintra to a couple of deserted villages dating back to the time of the Clearances.

There is space to park at Kintra at the end of a minor branch road off the route to Fionnphort. Kintra is a tiny row of cottages overlooking a rocky bay; a picturesque spot. Begin the walk by heading back up the road inland. After a little under half a kilometre the road bends right; leave the road here and go through the gate ahead onto a track. When this forks continue to the gate ahead but don't go through it, instead turning left and following the wall downhill.
When another gate is reached go through it and join the rough track. This crosses a gated bridge over a ditch; it forks briefly further on but only to avoid a boggy section. Soon the first ruined houses of Braighchreaich are seen over to the right. A short distance further on is the best preserved of the houses, on the left side; this would have been the home for two families. Continue through the gate in the drystone wall.
Further along the grassy track there are three large stones on the right - known locally as the Father, Son and Holy Ghost - they may have had a role in rituals. Beyond here the original track is waterlogged but you can continue by keeping to its north side. The walk ends at the final ruin at Gortain-a-ghibain, lonely at the foot of Beinn Chladan. Unless traversing the moors to the east, the return walk is the same way.
