1. From the A827 on the south west side of Killin look for a sign for Acharn Circuit just before the war memorial as you walk away from Killin. There is layby parking along this section of road for the Falls of Dochart, and there is also very limited parking at the signed start of the walk. Turn left (if coming from Killin) to pass between the end of the terraced bungalows and a newer house and follow the track up to a gate and signboard. After the gate turn right along the old railway line. Follow this through woodland with open fields on the right where deer can sometimes be seen grazing.

2. Some of the old concrete railway sleepers can be seen in piles at the side of the path. The local primary school has done a project to assess the wildlife on this walk and you can pick up a laminated card about this. There are lots of birds on this section and spring flowers.

3. Pass the tennis court and buildings of Acharn on the right and continue on the track. This soon passes a pond where fish can sometimes be seen jumping for flies. Soon after the track meets a crossroads. Turn left here and head gently uphill.

4. The route now enters an area of forestry with broom and gorse at the side of the track in places. As the track climbs there are nice views of Meall Clachach across Glen Dochart behind you. At a junction bear left and continue on the forestry track. At the next junction turn left again down another forestry track.

5. The route heads downhill with good views of the Tarmachan ridge north of Killin ahead. Eventually the track reaches a larger track and a depot. Turn left here and follow it downhill until the gate at the start of the walk is reached.
