1. The walk begins from the Knock Car park high above Crieff. To reach it head up Ferntower road, following the road when it turns sharply to the left. Soon afterwards as the enormous Crieff Hydro hotel is approached, fork right to continue up the hill. There is parking on the right as the road curves round. This walk is one of several waymarked by the Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust; others include the Knock from the same start point. Begin the walk by continuing along the road. After a short distance a fork is reached; keep left here to head towards the Crieff Hydro activity centre. One of the activities is seen on the left - a giant high-ropes vertical assault course.
2. Continue to the Activity Centre. The tarmac road goes left here; leave it and keep straight on past the centre and onto a rougher track. This descends with attractive views across lower Glen Turret ahead. Continue down the track to a signposted junction; turn right here, soon reaching and crossing a wooden footbridge. Turn left on the far side and continue to reach the tarmac road. Go left along the road, crossing the Turret bridge to reach the Glen Turret distillery, now known as the Famous Grouse Experience. Turn left into the visitor centre car park and pass behind the buildings to reach a wooden footbridge; cross this to head back across the Turret once more.
3. On the far side follow the path, passing an adventure playground and climbing slightly to reach a junction. Turn sharp right here and continue through the trees, close to the river. At the next signposted junction, turn left (marked for Culcrieff). The walk now heads steeply uphill through the trees, zigzagging to ease the graident. At the lane, turn left. The lane leads to some balconied self-catering houses that wouldn't look out of place in Florida. Just before reaching them, take a signed path on the right. Go straight across one track onto the waymarked one opposite. The walk is now signed for the Crieff Hydro hotel. It soon passes a stone-built well, dated 1874. The water here was said to have healing properties and made Crieff into a fashionable resort, funding the construction of the enormous Hydro as well as many fine buildings in the town. Today the water is marked as being unfit for human consumption.
4. The track now follows a terrace with wonderful views up the Earn valley to the right, and over Crieff itself ahead. It joins a tarmac lane; just before passing through a gap in a high wall and reaching the Hydro a steep signed path goes off to the left (signed for The Knock). Turn up this path and ascend the field alongside the wall to reach another set of self-catering houses and the car park just beyond.
