The Stables     Monkstadt, near Uig

Reputed to have been the first slated house on Skye, Monkstadt was described by James Boswell in 1773 as a considerable building. Nearby are servants houses and a U-shaped steading dated 1803-04 which includes a granary stable, cartshed and a mill with horse walk. Monkstadt has played a romantic role in highland history. The mainhouse of Monkstadt is now a ruin, however the steading has been renovated and the stables and granary have been sympathetically converted into first class holiday accommodation. This single storey stone cottage is an ideal base for exploring the mysterious Isle of Skye.

Situated on a fifteen acre working croft on the north end of Skye, 6 Totescore is a comfortable and attractive mix of the traditional and the modern. The house dates back to around 1870 and was the original family home. It was completely renovated and extended around 1997 and has all the comforts you would expect from a modern property while still maintaining the character of a traditional croft house.

The ground floor of the house has an open plan living area. Upstairs are three good sized bedrooms: one double room a twin bedded room and a single room.
