Carbost boasts a well-stocked village shop and Post Office, a pub/restaurant and a hostel. Portnalong itself has Taigh Ailean, the local hotel. Harris Cottage sleeps four. For the comfort of our guests we have a policy of no smoking and no pets.

Historical base. Monkstadt became the seat of the Clan Macdonald in 1730 when they abandoned Duntulm Castle. Nearby are servants’ houses and a steading which includes a granary stable, cartshed and a mill with horse walk. The mainhouse of Monkstadt is now a ruin however the steading has been renovated and the stables and Granary have been sympathetically converted into first class holiday accommodation. This single storey property is ideal for exploring the mysterious Isle of Skye.
