The Stables Monkstadt, near Uig
Reputed to have been the first slated house on Skye, Monkstadt was described by James Boswell in 1773 as a considerable building. Nearby are servants houses and a U-shaped steading dated 1803-04 which includes a granary stable, cartshed and a mill with horse walk. Monkstadt has played a romantic role in highland history. The mainhouse of Monkstadt is now a ruin, however the steading has been renovated and the stables and granary have been sympathetically converted into first class holiday accommodation. This single storey stone cottage is an ideal base for exploring the mysterious Isle of Skye.

The Old Inn Staffin
The oldest 'white house' in the north end of Skye, built circa 1783. Katie's Cottage is a traditional Skye croft house originally built in the early 1900's. The property sits in an elevated position overlooking the glen of Glendale in the small hamlet of Holmisdale.
