1. This route starts by following the green and yellow marker posts. From the car park and the log cabin information centre, take the wide track passed the pond. There are a number of sound boxes with different wildlife sounds that you can press on the way. Keep on the main track as it starts to pass a large felled area, ignoring another track coming down from the right. After crossing a stream there is a small picnic area and game and also a marked path leading to the left - stay on the main track.
2. The route now enters an area of dense woodland. When the track reaches a turning circle, bear left down a narrow path marked with green posts. The path descends quite steeply and eventually reaches a minor road. Go through the gate and turn right along the road for a very short distance and then turn left through a metal gate where there is also an information board about salmon in the River Cassley. Follow the path alongside the fence as you head towards the river. Go through a second metal gate and soon the Achness Falls can be viewed.
3. Head left following the path downstream passing a bench with an excellent view of the falls. Keep the left of the stone wall surrounding the small graveyard and then follow the grassy track that bears to the left across the field towards a farm gate at the road. From here turn left to return to the forest path on the right. Retrace your steps uphill to the turning circle, turn left here to follow the yelllow marker posts for the remainder of the walk.
4. Keep on the track, passing a number of boards with wildlife information. At a junction take the right turn heading uphill on a narrower track. This path meanders through the pine plantation and passes a clearing with a small lochan and picnic table. Just before a bridge keep to the left, crossing the bridge with the otter picture nearby, at the next junction keep straight on following the yellow posts.
5. Another path comes in from the left, keep straight ahead and soon a large cleared area is passed on the right with good views over Glen Oykel. Keep right at the next junction and just before the houses turn right again and pass through a gate to follow the track back to the car park and the start of the walk.
