The Falls of Shin is one of the best known sights in the area. Although not particularly high the falls have great power, and salmon can often be seen attempting to pass up the falls in the summer. This walk combines a visit to the falls with two short waymarked loops to make a short walk.

1. There is a large car park at the Falls of Shin Visitor Centre. This has become a popular stopping place on coach tours as the building is actually a gift shop and cafe/restaurant run by Harrod's; outside it is a crazy golf course and children's playground. To visit the Falls requires only a short, steep descent; take the signed path on the opposite side of the road. There are two ways down which form a loop, one with steep flights of steps and the other making a more gentle zig-zagging descent. At the bottom are two viewing areas enabling an appreciation of the great power of the River Shin.
2. After enjoying the falls, turn back up to the road and take the blue waymarked riverside trail. This descends more gently to reach the river above the Shin falls; the trees beside the path have been used to demonstrate ancient woodcraft skills. After reaching the river the path swings left and crosses straight over the road. The path now heads gently back to the visitor centre, passing a stone picnic table.
3. As you reach the centre, turn right at two junctions to follow the blue waymarked trail. This climbs slightly to reach a higher level through the working forest with some views down the glen before returning to the car park, passing a wooden salmon sculpture along the way.
