1. From the A949 turn off at Spinningdale onto a minor road to Migdale and Airdens. After approximately 2km uphill there is a large parking layby on the right hand side, a couple of passing places before the signed walk on the left - this is marked on some maps as Fairy Glen car park. From the parking area walk up the road and take the turning on the left down a track. Soon there is a Woodland Trust information board with a map. Keep following the track and turn left at the junction just before another painted board.
2. Follow the flat and straight track through the forest and go over a wooden bridge. The track then climbs uphill gently. Turn left onto a smaller path which cuts out a small section of the track. It now heads through a mixture of trees including silver and downy birch, aspen, juniper, oak and pines. Soon there are views across the valley to the left. The track then passes through a stand of pine trees and heads downhill towards the road at Spinningdale.
3. Turn left at the road passing a cottage and following the pavement past the houses that make up Spinningdale. Before the disused shop turn left onto the minor Fairy Glen road. Follow this road all the way back to the parking area. There are good views across the valley and down into Spinningdale Bog, an excellent habitat.
