Re: Hidden beauty south of Slochd

There's actually a lovely path (shown on the 25k map) just past the cottage at Sluggan Bridge which cuts out the road walk :) .

Re: Walking the Pass of Glencoe

Considering the current bone dry conditions, you should be able to avoid the A82 in the upper glen. There may not be a path but the going is not that bad around The Meeting of the Three Waters. Lower down, I'm not so sure - depends how determined you are!

Re: Accommodation

Stayed at the Caledonian a few times (although not since before covid). It's a bit dated but not bad and that's a very reasonable price.

Re: Help finding a new (better) pair of boots

Don't be too quick to write off the Zamberlans. I've had a couple of pairs and they do take a bit of wearing in but - once you have - they are very comfy. Waterproofing is good too - a pair I bought 9 years ago only failed last autumn.

Re: Compleation party. An Teallach new date Aug 14th 2022

Hi Keith.

Well, it's over 2 years since I moved to the Highlands so probably time I got round to climbing a hill  .

Seana won't know until much nearer the time, but I should manage to squeeze this into my busy schedule...

Re: Poor Planning on Aonach Eagach.

an approach shoe/trainer for scrambling, not quite a climbing shoe La Sportiva TX4 are excellent for scrambling (and walking in general). I've had a pair for 5 years and still in great nick after many routes, including a wet Aonach Eagach. If you've not worn something like them before, you will be ...

Re: Creag Ghlas: local gem of a hill!

Another enjoyable report BP :) . There is actually a scramble up the left hand edge of the slabs which is quite good, so not solely the preserve of those clinky types  .

Re: Apprehension

1. Have a disciplined routine every evening. Do all you can to let things dry/air at any opportunity - every minute can count. 2. Not on the west coast it hasn't. Forecast is no too bad either. What will be will be. 3. 15 miles may be ambitious on some days. Be flexible and listen to your body. Make...
