Re: Winter wild camp high above Glencoe: blue, white and gre
A well deserved webtogs win!
I've almost stopped crying about not lugging my tent up there that night.

Re: Beinn a'Chochuill, Beinn Eunaich to Start 2014
Thanks for the comments
Definitely a pair of hills to be recommended. Probably a good set to introduce people to walking actually.

Beinn a'Chochuill, Beinn Eunaich to Start 2014
I suspect my 2014 so far is not unlike many other people who have not seen a whole lot of hill time. The few decent weather windows we have had, have, rather annoyingly, been booked with other less thrilling activities, like work or parenting. The best I'd managed in January and February was to ambu...

Re: Isle of Skye - Walking/Wild Camping Advice
There's plenty of decent camp spots within easy walking distance along the Totternish Ridge. I camped on the shoulder of Beinn Edra last February. Most of the ridge is fairly exposed so maybe not so suitable for windy weather, but there are sections of it at the North which are more protected.

Re: Too much of a tent compromise?
I know nothing about it, but I like the look of this: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/quickhiker-ultralight-ii-hiking-tent-grey-id_8245650.html

Re: Quechua Boots?
Thought I'd update this - I finally went with a pair of Hanwag Tatra wide. Took them outside for the first time today for a few miles round the farm. Probably the comfiest pair of walking boots I've had out of the box.

Re: Down jacket
I bought an 800 fill power lightweight down jacket from Costco for about £35 last year. It weighs about 350grams I think (from memory anyway, I've have to weight it again to be sure). It seems every bit as good quality as ones 5 or 6 times the price. I like it so much I went and bought another one -...

I was going to say are you sure it was just tea in the flask.
Well done on your completion. Did you do them all save Buachaille Etive Mor in the past 8 years?

Re: Hillsound trail crampons
and for more variation, I'm quite happy with these: https://www.yaktrax.com/Product/XTR
Admittedly I do use them with some old straps I had lying about.

Re: dehydrator
I got one of these a few months back: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digital-Food- ... OC:GB:3160 Great thing so it is. I've done quite a few chilli & spaghetti bolognese type meals as well as loads of fruit. I tried a few curries too, but they really didn't taste good when rehydrated. The Chilli and...

Re: Quechua Boots?
I went to decathlon in Glasgow and had a look at the boots. They didn't seem a particularly good fit for the shape of my feet so I left it. I do seem to have a lot of trouble finding comfortable boots though - I think I must have odd shaped feet. That said, the boots did seem to be pretty decent qua...

Re: Quechua Boots?
I'm probably going to avoid Meindl this time. My burma pros took an awfully long time to break in and they do seem to be more worn out than I'd have expected after three years use. It is possible I'm expecting too much of them of course, but I figure if I try another make this time. I'm now looking ...

Re: Quechua Boots?
From my trawls in the internet I gather they're a French invention and popular in Europeshire. I'm thinking I may have to make a journey to the civilisation to the South in the next couple of weeks and give them a try.
