Re: The Mighty or Terrible Yewbarrow

Great report mc. I've always been fascinated by yewbarrow. My first ever trip to Lakeland was some 14 years ago and was to wasdale. Ever since I've wanted to do it but people keep saying it's not a good idea! Maybe next spring when the weather is better!

Re: Helvellyn, White Side and Raise via Striding Edge

Thanks guys! I think we could actually see the path down to swirral, but as I've never done swirral we decided to not risk it as the path disappeared into the cloud and from where we were stood with the wind it seemed too great a risk. Will definately try it next time I'm up there and hopefully take...

Re: Crinkle Crags

Thanks! I love the pic too but it just doesn't do the real thing justice! Brave - maybe, some would say foolhardy! I would tend to agree as we did encounter some navigation issues! Not sure how cos we checked our compass bearing against the map every 4-5 mins, but at one point ended up on a northerl...

Helvellyn, White Side and Raise via Striding Edge

Helvellyn with Richard T and Derrick M. We initially planned to do Helvellyn via Striding Edge and back down Swirral Edge, but cloud on the summit made the descent onto Swirral a bit too risky, so we went on and did White Side and Raise, returning to Glenridding for a pint and some home made chips! ...

Crinkle Crags

A trip up Crinkle Crags with Dave F... The weather report for today was good for the morning and in the afternoon, wind and rain was due to roll in and would stay for the remainder of the day! :? We started at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Pub and headed out towards The Band. From iPhone Nov 12 2009 434.JPG...

Re: Snowdon via Crib Goch

Mountain Coward... I am by no means a pro - in fact quite far from it. I do however enjoy that rush you feel when you put yourself into a precarious situation! I think its called adrenaline! Anyway I have only done Snowdon once, about 4 years ago now and on that one occasion I went via Grib Goch. We...

Re: Pavey Ark/Harrison Stickle

Hi, Just done the same walk yesterday, with Phil. We went from the new hotel up to Stickle Tarn, however we opted for Easy Gully (just to the right of the rake) and got stuck near to the top of the gully! It was really wet and the rain didn't help. I was wondering if anyone else had come across the ...
