Re: To Páramo or not to Páramo?

I've got the Bentu fleece and jacket combo and I love it. I usually wear a Merino baselayer and then mix and match the 2 Paramo items depending on conditions. I sometimes just use the fleece on it's own, it's thin and really comfortable - and it also looks good in the pub!

Creag Meagaidh conditions

I'm visiting from sunny Sheffield next week 5th to 12th May. Does anyone know the snow conditions on Meggy and the Spean Bridge area?

Reindeer on Sgor Gaoith

Descending Sgor Gaoith on 16/10/2007 we met with 3 Reindeer. They must have escaped from somewhere so I wonder if they actually count as "wildlife". I have photos & video but no idea how to upload them from my Google account. They seemed quite tame and allowed us to about 10 metres bef...

Re: Am I mad? Climbing my first munro alone!

I did Ben Lomond alone for my first Munro. Be prepared for the weather, take your time and enjoy it. I've been up it lots of times since but have never had the hill to myself. It seems that there's always someone else on it!

Re: os maps

I also have a Garmin Montana 600 with full 1:50k OS maps. I think it's brilliant - it bounces, it's fully waterproof and it's easy to read in full sun (whenever that happens!). I also use OS maps in ViewRanger on an Android phone which is great and I've never had a problem with it in the rain. Batte...

Re: Away to take on my first Munro - Walking/Trekking Poles

I’ve used walking poles for about 35 years now. They were not common on the hills then and when I first started I got many a strange look from non users. The poles are adjustable for height and must be set to the correct length for the user. Using poles takes pressure off your knees when walking. Fi...

Re: KILLIN AREA 10th - 14th July

It would be great to meet you and your dog on the Thursday Debbie. I have 3 terriers but only bring one with me when walking the hills. I have not walked the hills for 4 days in a row before and my legs may need some encouragement to do 15 miles on day 4. On that point I have been looking at a short...
