Re: Beinn a'Chrulaiste via Pink Rib

Great video. Had read about the Pink Rib in a scrambling book but never seen anything written about it anywhere else - now I know what it’s like. Once again great camera work and great views over the Glen. 👍

Re: Is this the prettiest short, level walk in Scotland?

Great pictures and I just love your wee lizard friend - never seen one in the wild before. Thanks for that.

Loch Garry and the Mealls

I wasn’t sure whether to go walking or not on this Saturday as I’d suffered from stomach cramps on the Friday evening and was still suffering the following morning. However, my gear was packed so it was into the car and off up the road to Dalnaspidal. When I opened the car door at Dalnaspidal it was...

Re: Zena goes solo on Mount Battock (eagle sighting too!)

It makes me jealous when I see you with your dogs. My last one ( Sheba ) did about 150 Munro’s and just over 100 Corbets. I know it shouldn’t matter but I do wish I could find myself a new collie companion.

Meall na Leitreach and Meall Breac

our_route.gpx Started off with the sky a clear blue and not a cloud in sight. There are loads of geese at the start of the walk at the moment - not certain if they are perhaps resident or if they’ll be gone in a few weeks. Basically ascended by the normal route from the railway crossing at Dalnaspi...

Parking for Meall na Leitreach

Looking for info on where to park at Dalnaspidal for the Meall na Leitreach area. You used to be able to pull in by the old railway box at 6440 7335. Not sure if this has now been converted into a private house. Think there’s also a parking place going North just before Dalnaspidal and the dual carr...

Bachd na Craig (The border and back)

This walk is actually photographs from two walks; the first being Monday the 15th of March and the second Saturday the 20th of March. Truth be told on the Monday weighted down with full Winter gear; boots, crampons, ice axe etc I got no further than Bachd Ban at approximately 590 metres when I ran o...

Back o’ Ben Vrackie

Starting from grid NN994624 on the Pitlochry to Straloch road I headed downhill over rough tussocky grass to the Brerachan Water. Finding a way across was tricky as most of the rocks sticking above the surface were coated in ice. Once across it was obvious that down by the Brerachan the ground was p...

Dress For The Hills

I won’t bother you with a serious walk report - this is more to do with the people I met on the hill as I was descending. I passed two families on the way down from the summit of Ben Vrackie to Loch a’ Choire. I should have been brave enough to say something but I didn’t want to get into any argumen...

Re: Fancy frost

This picture was taken in early 2018 of the trig point atop Ben Ledi showing rime ice projecting into the direction of the prevailing wind. Apparently it needs cold, damp and foggy conditions to grow. Not sure if it’s hard or soft rime ice - apparently there’s a difference in colour but I can’t tell...

Re: Ben Cruachan North Ridge (+ route description)

I remember over 20 years ago going to do Ben Cruachan from the North. At that time there used to be a sign at the entrance to Castles Estate stating “High velocity rifle shooting on this land at all times of the year”. 😱😱😱 Anyway I headed up the track and was a good 3km to the good when I could hear...
