Have a subscription to OS Maps and when I attempt to export a GPX map route which I’ve walked from OS to Walkhighlands it will not allow it. I get the message “ The extension geojson is not allowed “. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Meall Ruigh nam Biorag

Thought this is going to be an amazing day as I drove North from Perth. Got up to Dalwhinnie and then took the minor road to Crubenmore. Parked up at the start of the track up to the telephone masts with the car reading -9 degrees. The cloud was lazily drifting down Glen Truim / the A9 but I thought...

Sparrow Hawk

This little guy landed on my garden fence today but just wasn’t quick enough to catch anything at the feeders.

Re: Beinn Pharlagain near Rannoch Station

Further to my previous post here is an extract from the 1994 Scottish Mountaineering Club District Guide to The Central Highlands. “In descent from Beinn Pharlagain the above mentioned track can be met at the bridge over the Allt Eigheach, from which a line can be taken South-West over the moor for ...

Re: Beinn Pharlagain near Rannoch Station

About twenty years ago I was doing a circuit of Carn Dearg, Sgor Gaibhre and Beinn Pharlagain on my own in January. Because the ground was covered in snow I managed to drop into a sink hole between Carn Dearg and Sgor Gaibhre almost up to my waist. Thankfully I managed to get my rucksack off and use...

Re: Meall Chuaich - A Munro is what you make of it..

To kenncunn and Coutts94 I would just say don’t underestimate what you are considering e.g. tagging Meall Chuaich onto A’ Bhuidheanach Bheag and Carn na Caim. I have been up Meall Chuaich from the col between it and Bogha-cloiche and it is a steep 1,000ft. I have gone up onto Bogha-cloiche and heade...

Re: Leaving tent up while going away hiking for day?

As I normally walk alone I’ve done this a few times when I’ve been off the beaten track. What I would normally do is leave my tent, sleeping bag and mat and just take the stuff sacks/straps for them with me. Never had any problem.

Circuit of Coire Chuaich

$matches[2] This walk started as all walks to Meall Chuaich begin by following the aqueduct. $matches[2] $matches[2] $matches[2] At the start of the ascent up Meall Chuaich I carried on following the main track. $matches[2] There was a lot of vehicles parked up on the walk in and as I discovered ab...

Bee

It is a wildlife sighting - but in my garden. Only noticed this morning a couple of them mining into the compost in one of the pots in my garden containing a rhododendron. They appear to have their own little burrows.

Re: Help re Access / Parking

Thanks jmarkb - probably not a lot to see up there but I was actually wanting to go up to photograph some March stones along the ridge separating Atholl Estates from Robertson of Auchleeks. Will maybe just have to walk from Calvine.😢😢

Deuchary Hill

This wasn’t the walk I expected to do today, that was Meall a’ Chathaidh above Glen Errochty but as I couldn’t find anyplace to park near Struan to start that walk I came back to good old familiar Deuchary Hill. Only thing I noticed different from when I was up in the Winter was this small plaque on...

Help re Access / Parking

Started out this morning with the intention of going to Struan at the start of Glen Errochty to go up on to Struan Point and then along the ridge to Meall a’ Chathaidh. There appear to be no parking places near Struan and the area appears covered in new deer fences. Anyone been there before, any inf...

Re: Inconsiderate B’s

You’re right when you say it’s a fairly remote spot, however, I can’t agree with Gaffr who says it’s not a place where you would come across hill walkers. You could certainly use it to head up to Crochton, Creag nan Gobhar and then up to the summit of Ben Vuirich. Also, what the hell was I doing the...

Inconsiderate B’s

Came across this scene at Grid NN 962 667 , Druim nan Aigeach on the 1:25,000 map. It’s about 1km SE of Shinagag looking over to the Beinn A’ Ghlo range. The fire was still smoking when I arrived there about 11.00 a.m. today and there were other beer bottles scattered about as well as a football!!! ...
