Wherever you go for a walk, start early as car parks are filling up fast. If you're prepared to be out and walking at 7am you'll have the hills almost to yourself at first. A long day out that's for sure, but it's very dry on top of cheviot just now, I was there yesterday and the peat bogs were a lot less man eating than usual.

Great advice thanks! In hindsight I know that I should have done the pole/axe swap before the final approach so definitely something to practice.
