Re: Am Faochagach River Crossing

abbruce wrote:Hoping to do this on Saturday. How was the crossing?

Thanks in advance

Was easy enough and a lot easier than it looks when you get there. I used walking sticks for a bit of extra stability / confidence but you don't really need them.

Re: Am Faochagach River Crossing

The stepping stones I thought were really pretty large. I got across fine after/during some pretty damp summer weather last year. That's at the marked bit just upstream, when you get to the river, you can see the erosion track leading upstream to it. On return, also helps on return to stay close ag...

Looks mostly dry between now and the weekend, so doubt it will be a problem.

Wow, I didn't even realise you got 'forecasts' for this! Cheers for that!

I had thought that and either cycle or drive to the lodge 1st. Not sure if you're able to drive up though?

Am Faochagach River Crossing

Hello,

Does anybody know what the current conditions of the Abhainn a' Gharbhrain are? Is it in spate or easily crossable? I'm planning on heading up there this weekend.

Maps Loading

Anybody having problems with the maps loading on Walkhighlands? I keep getting the red squares. It's only started happening since FF29 was installed last week - wondering if it's something to do with that.

Keep Walkhighlands free to use Banner

Is anyone having problems with the 'Keep Walkhighlands free' banner? I'm running FireFox with Ad Block Plus. As you can see from the attached - there's an advert on the page, Ad Block Plus is set to disabled on Walkhighlands.co.uk yet the banner is still appearing. I've tested this on 4 machines so ...

Route Planner

Hello,

There seems to be a problem with the route planner. If you plot a route, it's fine but if you load a GPX file the Ascent + / - & Naismith all stay at 0.

This is happening on Chrome, FF & IE.

Cheers,
Darren

Hello,

Was thinking of doing the Cairn Toul - Braeriach Traverse and was wondering if anybody knew if you can take a MTB from the Sugar Bowl Car Park to Lairig Ghru? What's the path like?

Cheers,
Daz

Re: Wee Birdie Nae Feart

Cheers for the info guys! Much appreciated!

Only noticed it as there were 2 of them, one flew away up the hill which got my attention. Then I turned back round and there it was, not budging off their turf!

Wee Birdie Nae Feart

I was coming down Derry Cairngorm on Saturday just passed and came across this bird who didn't budge or fly away. Anybody know what it is?

Wild Camping - Gas Stoves

Hiya,

Away to wild camp this weekend in Glen Lui and I know they have signs up stating 'no fires' but I'm presuming it's still okay to use gas stoves. They just don't want people making loads of bonfires, right?

Hello

Hello All, Darren here. Looking to get into a lot of walking this year. I've been itching to for ages but the ex held me back lol. I'm based in Aberdeen city centre. Looking to get a new car within the next few weeks and will be covering pretty much anywhere in Scotland. There's 4 of us going to Ben...
