Re: Lake district.

I find www.davidhalllakedistrictwalks.co.uk has a greater selection of walks for differing abilities depending on what you have in mind. The click on a car park for walks in that area is a great tool too to finding walks that take your fancy. As for midges they're not a massive problem. They don't s...

Re: Man who climbed Dumyat in Wimbledon finals

Scottish or British . . . .who cares!? . . .Dour personality (I find his dry sense of humour quite engaging incidentally) . . who cares? . . . Bloody world class sportsman that's all I care about and it grates when others knock them. :? After another amazing weekend for British sport just think off ...

Re: Walking Holiday - Mull

If it's a bit of "posh nosh" you're after Highland Cottage in Tobermory is exceptional. http://www.highlandcottage.co.uk/index.asp No hills on this one but i'd recommend the short walk down to the coast at Ardmore, just outside Tobermory, if you're hoping to see some of the native wildlife...

Re: Torridon Favourites??

Apologies for the late response to my question but since I posted there have been more important & unfortunate things happening to others on here than my trivial holiday plans. So i'll keep it short & just briefly thank you all for taking the time to respond. Really appreciated with plenty o...

Re: Lost dog on A' Mharconaich area

I've been checking in on here day after day hoping to read some positive news about your search for Benji & just wish I could offer more assistance. It's one of the few areas I am fairly familiar with, just wish my workload would allow me the time to come up & help search. Sadly at this time...

Torridon Favourites??

I did promise the wife, Rachel, that we'd put off Scotland for this year while I regain my health . . .bloody arthritis . . .but being a stubborn ass I want to cram it all in while I still can. I've been so taken with everyone's reports on here from Torridon that the itch to explore the area is just...

Re: High Street Therapy

Cheers for that. I only have a Nikon D3000. Nothing special I know but I've just upgarded to a similar 17-70mm lens. The lightweight point & shoot just isn't in the same league as even my entry level Nikon DSLR when shooting in RAW (something my point & shoot doesn't allow.) I'll be glad to t...

Re: Other Interests Besides Hillwalking and the Great Outdoo

Until now. Now I'm dead interested in how you came up with that band name. Being a bit nerdish I think it was something to do with historical theories that Cleopatra used to insert stones inside her as rudimentary birth control. Others suggest she in fact used Bees to get that certain "Buzz&qu...

Re: Stashing gear whilst wild camping

I was up Stickle Tarn a few weeks ago midweek. I had the place to myself about 8am but later when the sun came out the hordes seemed to appear from nowhere. I'm sure, if well hidden, you'd be absolutely fine. Without being too judgemental, out of school holidays, and without the general riff -raff (...

Re: High Street Therapy

I feel like i'm beginning to stalk you now. You write a report, with the usual stunning photo's & I immediately set my sights on walking there. Well this time I had already made my mind up for next weekends destination but it's always good to see reports like this that remind me of why i'm going...

Re: Other Interests Besides Hillwalking and the Great Outdoo

It'd seem a passion for music, over a wide array of tastes (some questionable it would seem  ) goes hand in with hill-walking. It appears at odds, from other threads, then that so many shun musical accompaniment when out walking. Out of personal interest I wonder why that is? I'm no different ...

Re: Stashing gear whilst wild camping

I think it would depend where you were in the Lakes. I'd not hesitate in most places in Scotland but would definitely have second thoughts in the Lakes. Stating the obvious but it's just a numbers thing for me. I figure the more people about (as in the more touristy routes in the lakes) then the mor...

Re: Controversial Confessions

Great thread . . . In my head i'm sure the pretty ladies also give me many an admiring backward glance when my ample moobs swing to-an- fro as I heave my sweaty lardy arse on an ascent! :D My confessions: I'm also a big fan of a quick hello & short chat when I meet fellow walkers on the hills bu...
