Re: From the Cluanie Inn to the Kintail Lodge - 12 Tops, 4 D

This is the second year that I will not be able to come to Scotland due to Covid. In order to battle my desire for Scotland I compiled a wee film of the 2019 hiking trip.. Feel free to watch the youtube video if you like. I hope to come back to Scotland but the outlook is bleak. Over here in Germany...

Re: Český kras, Czech Republic

Cheers Lucie for your trip report. I found your walk really interesting, although it is just a bit too far away for me. Well I do not live in the UK but just on the other side of the border in Drážďany or Dresden. Therefore we often venture to the bohemian swiss/České Švýcarsko, the central bohemian...

Re: From the Cluanie Inn to the Kintail Lodge - 12 Tops, 4 D

Really enjoyed reading this, which has taken a couple of visits as its almost as long as some of mine! Impressive terrain to carry full camping gear over, especially the descent of the Forcan ridge. We too make up our own names for many of the Gaelic ones; Gloria is the same. I also carry a spring ...

Re: From the Cluanie Inn to the Kintail Lodge - 12 Tops, 4 D

...The east face of Sgurr na Sgine was really an obstacle we had to walk around. ...Is there a trip report for your trip available? Yes - here. https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=42804 Probably a tad "wortkarg" - this was not long after I started serious walking...

Re: From the Cluanie Inn to the Kintail Lodge - 12 Tops, 4 D

Just as good in English!!! :D PS I was looking at the photo of the east end of Sgur na Sgine with some surprise. I don't know quite how I managed to down climb it!!?? It looks extremely intimidating on your pic, and I do recall it being a bit of a challenge... Cheers Alter Knacker! ( I'm sti...

Re: From the Cluanie Inn to the Kintail Lodge - 12 Tops, 4 D

Wow! What a big week. Really enjoyed your story, and your pictures! From your day 3, maybe you’ll understand why some Scottish mountain folk like to carry a pair of flip flops.... doesn’t make the water any warmer but the riverbed isn’t so painful. Can’t wait for your next tour report, here’s hopin...

Well done, Really enjoyed that report  Love the pics of the old ruin cottage and especially the window one where a mother may well have called the kids in for their haggis  You certainly got all weathers  Thanks Beaner ... Yeah, the weather was ok after all. Could have been a bit ...

Re: From the Cluanie Inn to the Kintail Lodge - 12 Tops, 4 D

Cheers jacob. The photies rely heavily on a bit of cropping and some filters from google photos otherwise the would look pretty boring  They were almost all taken with my phone. The camera (Sony alpha 5100) was hardly used on that trip.

Re: From the Cluanie Inn to the Kintail Lodge - 12 Tops, 4 D

Cheers mate and thanks for your reply. Feedback is minimal this year ... apparently due to Corona people have other things to do than reading trip reports  This years report will be late anyway. My plans are to fly to Scotland in August and do a 4 to 5 day walk then. I don't know where but my ...

From the Cluanie Inn to the Kintail Lodge - 12 Tops, 4 Days

Preface Sorry, this TR is a wee bit old because it's a report of my yearly Scotland hiking tour from May 2019. In the last years I usually wrote the english version for this forum first and afterwards translated the whole report into german (my mother tongue). This time I did it the other way round...

Re: Route suggestions - 4 days with a 12 year old kid

I've just finished reading your report on the Outdoorseiten site, and I definitely think it’s worth having the report in English to go with the great pics – I’m quite surprised you didn’t write it in English anyway, given that your English is perfect (albeit with something of a Mancunian accent :-)...

Re: Route suggestions - 4 days with a 12 year old kid

That page auto-translated to English. ... The photos are great but I think it's actually well worth the read. Thanks Marty. Amazing what technology nowadays can do. I am temped to use the google translated version as the english version of the trip report for Walkhighlands ... Since I have plenty o...

Re: Route suggestions - 4 days with a 12 year old kid

Looking forward to the walk report on this one whatever you do Mancunian . Sounds like good fun. I'm sure it will be fun to introduce the kids to Scotland. After having told them for 9 years how wonderful the country is, they want to see it for themselves. Well that reminds me, that I haven't writt...

Re: Route suggestions - 4 days with a 12 year old kid

Knoydart would be good .... Probably sensible to have a Plan B in the east (e.g. Cairngorms) though, in case the forecast is dire - Knoydart in August is not the driest place in the world! Thanks jmarkb. Knoydart seems to be a clear winner in combination with Glenfinnan. So another idea I came up w...
