Re: Loch Carron Easter

Looks like a great trip. Your pictures of the view from camp at sunrise have inspired me to get planning my first wild camp of the year!

Re: Donich always be the last place you look...

Didn't think I'd ever have a tear in my eye reading a walk report on Walk Highlands! Surely a candidate for some Webtogs vouchers?!

Re: Duncolm fae Dumbarton - Old Kilpatrick rail stations.

Didn't bother with Duncolm on Saturday as there was no chance of the views north towards Loch Lomond and Arrochar. Ended up heading across the slacks from Carleith then through the forestry behind Loch Humphrey to Fyn Loch then back across the slacks and home again. The best parts of the Kilpatricks...

Re: Duncolm fae Dumbarton - Old Kilpatrick rail stations.

Was up that way today. Great few hours out. All the Kilpatricks were completely shrouded in mist, very atmospheric. Not many folk about either which is an unexpected bonus up there these days. You seem to have gotten better views yesterday though!

Re: Sunrise on The Cobbler

Great walk this, not an easy one for your first outing in a while, thats for sure. Lovely moody piccies.. 8) Thanks Hills, the pictures don't do it justice though, great being up there at that time in the morning in that weather. Gutted I didn't get a picture of the deer. Wasn't as hard going as I'...

Sunrise on The Cobbler

Due to the birth of my daughter in October, I haven't been out any further than the Kilpatrick hills since a trip to the Ring of Steall in August. On Sunday the recent weather proved far too enticing and brought me out of hibernation for a quick winter walk. I managed to set off in the car with the ...

Re: old kilpatrick to milngavie

Just stumbled upon this report by chance, great route! I've done lots of variations between the different lochs and hills between the Overtoun and Auchineden estates but not this particular way. Really like the idea of the Dumbarton to Drymen walk, having done all the sections seperately I can imagi...

Re: Best B1 boot out of this three and who stocks them?

Sorry Rodmeister, read your previous posts on Scarpa issues after writing that... Take it you've tried the different shapes of last available in the SL as well then. Never mind! :D

Re: Best B1 boot out of this three and who stocks them?

Not one of you're three boots I know, but for a B1 rated boot I can't see past the Scarpa SL boots, I wear the Old M3 version all year round but I've read reviews of the newer SL Active boots and they seem to be even better. Like jmarkb says though everybody has their own preferences but i'd recomme...

Re: Ben Nevis, Carn Mor Dearg

Great report! Really like the pictures you managed to take too. I did this with perfectly clear blue skies almost exactly a year ago. The arete was fantastic then but I want to go back and try it in the conditions you got, that looks much more impressive! :D

Re: Ben Vane and Ben Vorlich via Loch Sloy Dam

Thanks Monty, to be honest after coming down the main route of Ben Vorlich I don't think there was too much of a difference in terms of steepness. The scrambling was probably the only major additional obstacle. Next time I do them I fancy a horseshoe shaped route heading straight across the ridge fr...
