The most flexible option is to buy map credit, then you can download maps by the tile, so you only get the bits you need and not a load of stuff you don't. If that's all you want it for, and you've got an Android smartphone, use ViewRanger. (Not on an iPhone as it kills the battery but Android's fine). I use it on all my walks. Carry a PowerMonkey as well for recharging and it'll run all day with no worries. Significantly cheaper than a dedicated unit...
