Re: New Covid law 26/4/2021

"I'm only happy when it rains I'm only happy when it's complicated And though I know you can't appreciate it I'm only happy when it rains You know I love it when the news is bad Why it feels so good to feel so sad? I'm only happy when it rains Pour your misery down Pour your misery down on me P...

Re: Crianlarich Hills / Rannoch Wall snow cover

This is always useful for that area. http://www.benmorewebcam.co.uk/

Looks fine. Was patchy around Starav last Friday but would assume most of that is gone now as well given the temperatures since.

Re: So how busy was it?

Was (pleasantly) surprised how quiet Glen Etive was on Friday, to the point that I regretted the pre-7am start from Glasgow. Was in second nearest parking slot at Coileitir, although there was a couple of cars slightly further on. Not much busier at 3.30pm when I got back and only saw a handful of f...

Re: Right to roam v Private Road

This route is close to where I often cycle so had a look yesterday. The road looks like a typical private access road to multiple properties so would be very difficult to argue it was a dedicated private driveway rather than a more general access route. Assuming the person was the owner of the house...

Re: Lockdown Wrecking My Head

The Loch an Diamh circuit covering the two Munros and two Corbetts is a very healthy but not spectacularly hard day so split in two would be a really nice overnighter. The high ground is typically barren but there is the odd tree at the west end of the Loch which would be the obvious camp spot and a...

Re: Hillwalker or hiker ?

I would consider 'hillwalking' to be a bit like 'mountain-biking' in that it is more a description of what it isn't than what it is (i.e. not cycling on roads or prepared surfaces). I do a lot of 'mountain-biking'. But apart from one ill-fated attempt at Skiddaw many years ago (one broken arm (not m...

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Ooft, that last one was a stinker, despite the "loads of relevant clues" :). UL , gives a few folk in certain places the 'moon's share'. U dal L aw? In Orkney and Shetland, as I understand it, legal rights under Viking Udal Law extend beyond the foreshore, out to the point of the l...

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

I did see that, but sometimes, I guess, suggestions answer themselves...also not really Scottish in any specific way, unless you know something I don't.

Think what the main effect of the moon is. Not specifically QV but what she represented. Was imported, not therefore uniquely Scottish.

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

The answer is not a geographic feature or a place. In a manner of speaking, you'll be getting warmer as you get colder.

Nope. And as I am a hard taskmaster, you only get a clue with at least a vague attempt at an explanation .

Re: TGO Challenge 2021

K Armstrong wrote:Does anyone know where the main photo on the TGO Challenge homepage was taken? The one for 'The Challenge In Pictures', with the guy in the red top? It doesn't seem to appear in the gallery.

Looking west towards Ben Alder on left and Lancet/Gael Charn on right from west of Culra, I believe.
