Re: Family tent with mesh door - advice wanted

Hi all! After a few years of wild camping trips around Scotland with my partner, we recently expanded our family and we have a little one that we'd love to take camping with us as soon as possible :D I'm afraid long hikes + wild camping are not going to happen anytime soon, and surely our tiny (but...

Re: A Winter Scramble and summit camp on Fuar Tholl

Great stuff, what a treat. Glad the route worked out. You and I both! The summit relief was real. What a superb adventure with equally stunning photos to accompany it   Like the sound of the cinnamon porridge! I can't take full credit as I just steal the Tent Meals 'Subtly cinnamon' rec...

Re: A Winter Scramble and summit camp on Fuar Tholl

Stunning area and what an adventure!

Thanks all for reading my first report, and for your kind words. Really enjoyed reflecting on the adventure and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Cheers all!

A Winter Scramble and summit camp on Fuar Tholl

FuarThollSEroute.gpx My first walk report - go easy! This past weekend, my partner and I were both discussing how we had fallen into bit of a rut with work, and using our ageing, demented dog as an excuse for missing out on date nights. We were missing adventure together. Now, we are by no-means mu...

This helped greatly, thanks for pointing it out!

Great trip in the end, nevermind the brown pants after sliding across the wee exposed but if the scramble after sunset.

Cheers all!

Re: Fuar Tholl

That's great thanks all. The One Axe route doesn't offer a grade but states it's an easy non technical route with exception to a very short slightly airy section on the top. Looks like the suggestion is to cross the Leth-Chreig quite close to the rail bridge. Indeed, OS suggests a path not far from ...

Fuar Tholl

Afternoon The wife and I heading up Fuar Tholl this weekend for a summit camp, and seen the route from the "Scotlands Winter Mounatins with One Axe" book takes a more direct approach up the South East side and then up and over down Coire Mainnrichean. However most walk reviews and online p...

Re: Marco from SnS

There is a flattish area just north of the summit of Marsco, which I’m sure would accommodate both tents. It is very exposed, however, I think you would want a decent forecast before committing to a November night up there. Okay great! Thanks for the advice, trip will be pending forecast anyway as ...

Re: Marco from SnS

Amazing, thanks all. Sounds like a much nicer option to take the ridge, hadn't thought about that. We will be taking our time over 3 nights - so the extra mileage for an easier gradient will be welcomed. Whilst I've got you, wondering if anyone can offer guidance re: summit camps on SnS? Fortunately...

Marco from SnS

Hello all Looking to do Sligachan to Sgur Na Stri for a summit camp beginning of Nov. We have a few days so looking to extend an extra night and wondering if anybody could advise if Marsco is achievable from a southern approach? Thinking of dropping down to Foot of Loch Na Creithaeach, walking the e...

Summit camp Ben Mor Coigach

As the subject states, wondering if there is any flat ground for two tens on the top? I see there is a bit of a ridge walk and what I think is a flat spot but wondering if anybody with experience could advise?

Thanks

Re: Local overnighters with the other half

I think it’s just the lockdown woes really. It’s much easier to motivate oneself if getting up to the big hills.

The Old Kilpatricks are getting old, real quick.

Re: Local overnighters with the other half

So, do any of you friends/couples who live together ever just head out for a night in the tent? What do you get up to? haha fair point. Me & lovely girl love to go camping. I do all the hard work in setting up camp and she swims in the lochs, runs after sticks, rolls around in the mud, ...

Local overnighters with the other half

Just brainstorming aloud due to C19 annual leave boredom. Any couples on here that do wee overnight camps just 'for fun'? We are both into wild camps but most overnighters have been based around something 'bigger' i.e., a summit camp or a wee dinner and games night with pals. I find it difficult to ...
