Not the most iconic, but maybe the best for views.

I'm still trying to up my game after illness but not feeling ready (and not sure if I ever will again, tbh) to tackle any Munros. Since late January I've done Dumyat (twice), Tinto, Craigmore at Aberfoyle and last week I did Duncolm in the Kilpatrick Hills. Indeed on the descent from Duncolm I reali...

Re: Never boring Kilpatrik Hills

I did it today too, between 10.40 and 14.50. Didn't see anyone after a guy fishing at the loch. Thought I was on my own!!!

A great alternative to Ben A'an

I'm still trying to regain my fitness, and almost as importantly, confidence, after illness (check out my last report if you are remotely interested). I've done Dumyat twice (WELL into double figures on this hill), and Tinto for the second time with pal Andy and my grandson Matthew. I really want to...

Re: Am I up to this?

Glad you managed to get out on the hills again. I’ve used a few of your walk reports (featuring your grandson) for planning and sense checking potential hills for trips my son (8) - and these have helped make our munro escapades a success over the last 12 months! Big thanks for that and hopefully t...

Am I up to this?

I've been pretty quiet on this site recently. Truth be told I haven't been in the best of health last 2/3 years. 2020 and 21 had long spells of debilitating sciatica. And worse was to come last year. Late July I became seriously ill with what turned out to be endocarditis. Touch and go for a while. ...

A short walk gone wrong. My first time rescued. LMRT? Nah!

A short story (no pics) of a short walk gone wrong  My wife and I were spending the week in Glen Coe then Fort William. My wife, Cathie, has had several serious health problems but still likes to walk, although nothing TOO strenuous :D. We had done An Torr/Signal Rock, Glencoe Lochan taking in ...

For Free.

A pair of Hi-tec waterproof boots, size 8, cost sound £50 or so when new, bought for my grandson who has since grown out of them. Got a few Munro's etc under their belt, but still got some life left in them. Would be ideal for growing kid, when you don't want to splash out on boots that will be too ...

The One Sir Hugh Got Wrong

My plan to to bust past my age (66) in Munros this week, had to take a back seat when, after having two or three different pairs in mind, I found that my sometime walking pal Andy was unavailable this week except for Friday (25th) which didn't work for me. As Andy hadn't done, and was keen to do my ...

Re: Not again. Hill Rehab 2021

So pleased for you that you managed this Thanks for that :) Sciatica is a ******. Two of my friends are c rippled with it at present, one on a really strong pain-killer. Good for you for getting out, and long may you be able to do so. It really is a horrible complaint. I joined a Facebook group con...

Fantastic. Well done👌👏.You're an inspiration to all of us who are, let's say, "not as young as we used to be."

Not again. Hill Rehab 2021

Last year, 10 years after having a discectomy to solve an extremely painful sciatica problem, my sciatica returned bringing a literally agonising addition to the scary misery that was the first lockdown. April, May and June were pretty awful pain wise and in my downbeat moments I seriously thought m...

Banton Loch

That'll teach me. Desperate for any new walk, I decided I wanted to circumnavigate Banton Loch near Kilsyth despite the fact I couldn't find anything on the net to say it could be practically done. No site listing it as a family walk or really much mention of it at all really. Man made to supply wat...
