Re: Great Glen Way: A late summer Xped (+ Loch Lochy Munros)

The café in Abriachan woods is a must stop, they were building a house when I was there - is it finished??? Yes it was a very nice place. Such a lovely couple living the 'Good Life'! They had made (presumably) quite a lot of progress, they were now living in their house and had a local water source...

Re: Beinn a'Bheithir (Sgorr Dhearg & Sgorr Dhonuill)

It'll look a bit different now the winter weather is finally here! You're right about that boggy descent! Not the best. Chris Thanks - I wasn...

iPhone GPS app for off-line use?

Hi Folks, I'm looking for a bit of advice about a useful iPhone GPS nav app, which is compatible with OS maps, and can load routes, like the ones provided on this site. The only contender I can see is https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/outdoors-great-britain-gps/id336150457?mt=8 I'm unclear though, if ...

Ben Vorlich my first winter walk

our_route.gpx This would be my first winter walk, and I was very excited. The conditions were good, lots of cloud, but still nice visibility. P1170168.JPG We didn't use crampons, and this was my first experience walking on compacted snow, so I used an ice axe for confidence. I must admit that I was...
