Re: The Four Seasons - Mayar and Driesh

Nice report SL. These were my 2nd and 3rd Munros last year and you're right about the Corrie Fee, pics just don't do it justice. I plan on heading back there sometime soon with my bro who's yet to bag this pair and will hope for better weather than you got.

Re: Aurora Borealis from the comfort of my back yard

Nice one Chris. I was also looking out for it a couple of weeks ago from my Aberdeenshire home town when activity was supposed to be high but saw nowt other than the glare of street lighting despite trying to walk the dog in the darkest spots. As with a few others i'm fairly envious and the long wai...

Enjoy The Silence

A few weeks ago we were reminiscing about Stuart Adamson and Big Country on this forum. I was reminiscing again on YouTube tonight and found a video from my youth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22_ZDHd1WmY&feature=youtube_gdata_player (try and get past the 1st 20 seconds) I was no massive fan o...

Re: 10 years on - recalling a legend and an iconic Scottish

I had Restless Natives in my Amazon basket for ages but never got around to actually ordering it. Eventually did so a few days ago when spending a fortune on xbox games and DVDs for the kids Christmas. I reckoned it was as good a time as any to spend the extra £3.99 on a timeless classic of a Scotti...

Re: Wild Walks

Thanks for the book suggestions folks - I'll have to do a wee bit more research and get my letter off to Santa soon. Darren- the 5 minute programmes were on BBC2 Scotland (I'm not sure where you're based). It's next on Wed 21st at 4.10pm Colgregg - I watched the vid. Great to watch but I'm of an age...

Wild Walks

Am off work sick at the mo and have found myself trawling through daytime tv hoping against hope that there may be SOMETHING worth watching. Thankfully there was 10 minutes of respite this afternoon when I found 'Wild Walks'. There were two episodes presented by Cameron McNeish today, one on Ben Lom...

Re: Music On The Hill ?

I took my mp3 player (not upgraded for a few years) on my first hill walk thinking it would come in handy but didn't use it because I was enjoying the peace and quiet so much. Planning to try camping from next year though so will probably take it just for the tent. I may even splash out and upgrade ...

Re: Carn a'Mhaim

Nice one Gary. I did this walk a couple of weeks ago and couldn't see a thing from the top due to the clag. I just about got a glimpse of a Devils Flat Top but little else. I was in the same boat on the way back by wishing one of the bikes I saw on the day was mine and will definitely be taking it n...

Mount Keen earlier this year. My number 1 and a nice and gentle introduction fairly close to home. :D

Re: White Mount 4 back in August

Nice one Tomsie. I like the thought of a wander up past the Dubh Loch then doubling back between the Cairn of Gowal and Creag an Dubh Loch to Broad Cairn. I'm sure it's been done by plenty of folk but how difficult did it look from your route?

Re: Lochagar five... failed! :(

Realising you'd no boots must have been murder Boabie but definitely the right decision to turn back given the conditions.

Good to see you back in the big hills - the five will still be there in the the spring awaiting your return.

Re: Bitten by the bug - Lochnagar

Nice report Andy, shame about your weather. I did the five Munro's around Loch Muick earlier this year (like yourself after previous outings to Mount Keen, Mayar and Driesh) and was also 'bitten by the bug' that you seem to have caught. Good luck on your Kilimanjaro adventure.
