Thanks! Yes I was very happy to get a day like that

Re: Spectres and snowbows - above the cloud on Bynack More

Great conditions and some fantastic photos - lucky you ! We're generally in this area in Summer or occasionally Spring/Autumn but not Winter so far - might need to rethink that for conditions like this. Yes I agree - last time I was in the area was about 25 years ago and I'm sorry to have missed it!

Re: Spectres and snowbows - above the cloud on Bynack More

Superb! Cracking photos. (P.S. the usual term is fogbow - they are nothing to do with snow, despite being more commonly observed in winter). That'll learn me - I was told that by someone I met on the summit as I thought it was a Brocken Spectre (which I do think is the right term for the one around...

It's definitely inflated a bit - it's off the GPS track, so counts all the tiny 'ups', including errors:

Spectres and snowbows - above the cloud on Bynack More

It was a calm but cloudy forecast and with the Christmas excesses playing a major role in my planning, I decided on a straightforward out-and-back up Bynack More from Glenmore campsite. I wasn't expecting too much in the way of views, but got that completely wrong, topping out above the cloud, with ...

Re: The Storr - a beauty easily missed

Excellent report and stunning photos, thanks  I've always avoided it because of the crowds, but your report certainly makes it look more appealing for an outing at this time of year, even with the car park still being full.

Stob Coir' an Albannaich and Meal nan Eun

I wasn't expecting this to be anything other than challenging and a chance to blow the cobwebs away (which it did), given the wind and rain forecasted, but I really enjoyed it. The terrain is varied and interesting and there were some atmospheric views and even a touch of blue sky and sun poking out...

Re: Spectacular day above Glencoe Mountain Resort

Fantastic report of a great mountain day! Thank you for the photos - I did these 2 Munros a couple of years ago in howling rain with zero visibility so it's good to see what the views should look like! Thanks Sakura, it does just change everything to get the weather- the poor days just make these o...
