Re: Bagging Munros During CWT

[/quote] The munros you mentioned are all very good plans. As they come in pairs, do them both or not at all. Otherwise you have to go back there anyway, if you want to compleat. Seana Braigh is another remote one which is close to the CWT. The only thing I regret is going up the south ridge of Ben ...

Re: Bagging Munros During CWT

Bagging munros during the CWT is a very sensible idea. You'll pass some pretty remote ones. Would be a shame not to climb them:) I climbed 8 munros on my CWT. Some with the heavy pack, some with a light one. My plan was to climb more of them, but that didn't work out for various reasons. Here you c...

Re: Bagging Munros During CWT

As an alternative, you could do Thuilm first then come off Sgurr nan Coireachan's nw shoulder (there's a path) and head east along glen pean, use the bothy or camp along that glen and rejoin the track for a'chuill Thanks. That is something I wouldn't have thought of. Measuring it out, it looks abou...

Re: Bagging Munros During CWT

Question 2a Yes,no problem. Ive done this (and the other two as well) carrying full camping gear (never liked bothies) and food, and I wouldn't describe myself (even at the time) as remarkably fit. The top bit of Ciche is 'interesting', as they say, but not really technical. Thanks. That is what l ...

Re: Bagging Munros During CWT

1 a. No problem doing it clockwise. 1 b. I would be inclined to stick to the NE ridge until it levels out, and then make a descending traverse to meet the path at about NM960888. Thanks. That would be even better, mileage - wise. Good to know that is possible. I wouldn't have guessed it from the ma...

Bagging Munros During CWT

Hi, I am looking to tap into the extensive knowledge database in this forum. I am going to retire next year and planning to attempt the Cape Wrath Trail but taking my time. I am also a Munro bagger, with plenty still to do. I see this as an opportunity to bag a few Munros close to the CWT, that woul...

Re: WHW 6 days itinerary ideas

Day 1 seems a bit long for my taste, for a first day. Balmaha. Beinglas. Inveroran. Kinlochleven.

Re: Hip replacement

Thanks for the update. This is encouraging news indeed. I am really impressed with what you have achieved in 5 months. I wouldn't have expected so much, in such short space of time. This really takes away my apprehension for considering a similar procedure. I feared l wouldn't be able to do any hill...

Re: Solo walkers - car arrange for South Glenshiel Ridge etc

Hi, any solo walkers, thinking about the south Glenshiel ridge this summer or any of the non circuit routes for that matter ? How about agreeing a few possible dates and keeping an eye on the weather to sort out a car at either end ? Mainly free weekends but can occasionally take a short notice mid...

Re: Wild camping etiquette

I just left loch Ossian, after staying 2 nights and doing a couple of Munros. The place was packed and plenty TGO-ers on their way through. When it got full, the warden was very accommodating about TGO-er's tents pitched around the hostel. Lovely location and flat short grass. Just one option that m...

Re: Scrambling progression

Without trying to assess what is right for you, l can only tell you how l done it and quite happy with my progression. 1. Prow on Stuc a'Chroin 2. Tarmachan ridge 3. Ring of Steall. An Gabarnach was a little tougher than devil's ridge. 4. CMD Arete. I am not a scrambler by any means but l found thes...

Re: Backup options?

I always have some back up. Easier and lower routes, already mentioned. However, l come in from abroad for somewhere between 7 and 14 days at a time. I have hill routes planned for all days but in Scotland this almost never happens, due to weather. But also, sometimes l just need a day off. On these...
