Re: Stay at home

Reading that reminds me of this cartoon. The important thing is the date it was released...

Re: Stay at home

Until such things are in Law then nothing is being tightened and people should avoid making statements like Mr Leitch did, the 30 minutes or 1 hour thing is not from anything official and numbers like those do not help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJVICqJ33cA Link to the press conference regardi...

Re: Ever been lost and how didyou get on (off?)

Aye, and it could do with a wee polish.

Re: Ever been lost and how didyou get on (off?)

Too many times...I have a habit of getting lost in thought and just plodding on. A cloud rolled over Ben Macdui and I proceeded down the North slope not the East following some other walkers. After I was out of the cloud/rain I noticed the scenery did not look like the map and checked my compass/map...

Re: Stay at home

I don't need any clarification personally. Stay away from others. Stay at home just sends out completely the wrong message personally. People are repeating it like a mantra and if there is one thing I hate, it is people saying something without understanding why. Of course isolating from others will...

Re: Drovers Return: Ben Avon & Beinn a'Bhuird, the long rout

That is quite the outing. Puts younger folks to shame I feel. That highland cattle part rings so true. I had to get a lift from some people on holiday after being blocked by some cattle and they barely even registered the car, had to drive round one or two of them. So I can quite imagine your relief...

Re: Munro’s in gales

I am staying down low till it all blows over.

Really don't enjoy the wind especially with temperatures are low. I have been out in wind in July even and did not enjoy it even though at ground level the day was great.

Re: deepest peat bog

Funny Fionn Bheinn was mentioned as I ended up thigh deep in the ground on the way up there. I saw some muddier ground which thought to be a path. Only after climbing up to it did I notice I was standing on that bright green moss that appears to grow on the surface of waterlogged ground. Anyway, bit...

Re: The answer is blowing with the wind

The wind puts me off as it is no fun especially at this time of year. Tomorrow is looking hairy as well according to MWIS. That is also one thing that photos do not show, how windy it is. You can view old photos and reminisce but fire up a video and it all comes back what staring into the cold blast...

Re: Plans for 2020

Same as 2019, get out more. Last year was unlucky with holidays. Weather primarily. This year I will seek out areas I have not been to or have not seen enough of. Which is most places. One visit to some are not enough. Some Island visits would be good too. Just get out and enjoy the views which is w...

Re: Plans for 2019

To actually get out more. Work, Weather and Laziness for not having done more this year is my excuse but more of than not it is the latter reason. Primarily I need to make use of my holidays and get back to the north west coast. Wester Ross, Assynt and Sutherland. Better planning of journeys is als...

Re: Ben Klibreck in winter.

Hips? Hips!!

Stupidly ended up to my thighs recently wandering onto some of that bright green mossy plants that grows on top of waterlogged ground but if I went up to my hips in that temperatures I would be worried. Waterproofs are do not prevent water going up legs or down over the top.

Re: It's not that Little

I think little Wyvis might be one of these better viewed than climbed although if I am up that way again I might try it. Quite a good looking hill. I can understand not wanting to tackle Ben Wyvis if the legs are tired. Whoever decided that was the best route was a bit of a sadist. That said when I ...

Re: Carn Dearg Solo

Pity it was such an arduous journey in, a really nice area with fantastic views in some directions. The loch beside Carn Dearg is nicely set with the cliffs to the rear. I didn't have time to visit it closer. I went through Glen Banchor from the east rather than a route from the south. Although glea...

Re: Me and you in Glendhu

Very fortunate with the weather given the area. I stopped off at kylesku for some lunch and it has great views towards loch Glendhu. Definitely need to return although off of the beaten track that part of the world is pretty wild.
