Stob Ban (Mamores) and Mullach nan Coirean

Spotted a mink on our early morning drive (past speeding workies) out of from Loch Arkaig. Started the walk around 8am, some midges but not much wind so quite pleasant. Went wrong at lower fall in spite of warnings and missed the zig zag so scooted up the grassy slope. Easy then to the bealach below...

Sgurr na ciche circuit (3 munros)

4th day of trip to Loch Arkaig. Car and bikes to end of road, then bikes to end of forestry track beyond upper glendessary. Niccy had bad tumble from bike; Erna found it hard going, I faffed with my pack! Rain started just before a great scramble up a stoney shute, then north west to Sgurr na Ciche,...

Sgurr Mor (Loch Quoich)

3rd day of trip to Loch Arkaig. Car to end of road then walk up to Glendessary, over bealach, down other side, water shoes (bit of a melt down) across Ault Coire nan Uth, along stalkers path, over Sgurr Beag, on to Sgurr Mor, back down to bealach between munro and corbett, down steep grassy slope an...

Ben Macdui and Cairngorm

An Ad hoc walk organised by Moira with Derek (not Lawson), for a nice high pressure day, after my walk to Loudoun Hill with the grandkids. Nice steady pace over quite hard ground. Some lovely views and some snow buntings at the top of Ben Macdui.

Carn a'Chlamain

Another first for me. A bike/hike from Old Bridge of Tilt (Glen Tilt car park), bike to Balaneasie (about an hour with messing about) then walk up to the summit - less than 2 hours to top (first lunch in bown on NE side) and a bit over an hour down, so sitting in the sun having 2nd lunch by the burn...

Beinn Achaladair

First walk for 2020 as Covid 19 had caused a nation wide lockdown that prevented us travelling more then 5 miles for exercise. After a release from this rule Erna and me organised a trip to do these two munros. When Erna arrived she realised she had already done them!!! Anyway, she decided to come a...

Lovely walk with Erna taking in Myreton Hill, Colsnaur Hill, Blairdenon Hill and Bengengie Hill. Very quiet on the hills, nice pace and some good sustained up and down.

Ben Oss

Walked this with LR Ad Hoc'ers, on a perfect winters day. Blue sky, very little wind, a bit of snow on the tops. As it ended up as 'my' walk since Moira's was 'off' due to her back problem I pursuaded them to do Ben Oss first as I had already done Ben Dhubhcraig. A slightly extended circuit of Oss e...

Culter Fell circuit

A lovely Wednesday walk with 8 others from Linlithgow Ramblers. Did this walk in July 2014, see Memory Map GPX file. Can't find pics. Remember sheltering from the hail? on way up to Gathersnowhill (aptly named). This time we did the full circuit including windfarm. A good Wednesday workout.

Sgorr nam Fiannaidh (Aonoch Eagach)

Done with the Lochabar and Nevis group on their Isobel memorial walk. Erna also out. Had stayed up at Smokey Oak Lodge on the Friday and Saturday nights to do Niccy's walk the day before Beinn Teallach etc. Had to leave lodge by 7.30 so a fairly early start; arrived Glencoe Mountain Rescue car park ...

Beinn a'Chaorainn and Beinn Teallach

A great day out with LR; Niccy leading. I had stayed up near Gairlochy in Smokey Oak Lodge - an AirBnB in a very peaceful and fairly remote location. Starts at night were stunning. Nice leisurely getting up on the Saturday morning. Very slow on ascent due to 2 visitors having some difficulties, even...

Sgaith a Chaise

A walk from Strathyre with LR Sandy leading. Had done this with BR on 24 March 2019 from Loch Lublaig Ardchullarie More. Also did Creag a Mhadaidh on that occasion. Nice walk for an uphill leg stretch

Sgor na h-Ulaidh

HF Self guided - me and Erna - no Ruth. Started 9.00 from bottom of Glencoe, longish walk in past houses and alongside burn. Nice day to start with our hill clouded over but others round about stayed sunny all day. We were lucky that it cleared on the summit when we got there so good views. Steep gr...

Bidean nam Bian

A weekend self-guided at HF Altshellach, Ruth not able to come so just me & Erna. Started walking at 9.00 in fairly sunny but cold conditions. Steps all way to Coire, people repairing path, dilemma about route but stuck to Walkhighlands researched route, anticlockwise. Mist came down so not grea...

Beinn Fhionnlaidh

Led by Niccy (LR) on a super sunny day - not too hot. I stayed in the Wee Hut at Kinlochleven the night before and was picked up at the road end to Glencoe Mountain Resort, then into Glen Etive. 13 of us in all, nice steady pace and fantastic views from the summit. A few ptarmigan did a fly by as we...
