Ultra-light on the Cape Wrath Trail

Hello, The hooves & hinges aren't what they used to be so I'm seriously trying to cut back on what I carry on multi-day walks. Has anyone done the Cape Wrath trail and has an opinion on things not to skimp on. Tent, sleeping bag, stove, etc. e.g. don't go for a single skin tent, 'cause the midge...

Five go mad on Meagaidh

I wanted to finish this summer with a big outing. Sat/Sun weather looked rubbish and my mountain biking pal bailed for Friday. The weather was looking very tasty so I I made a late day decision to take the day off work. Having had a great week up in the Fannichs and An Teallach I was feeling a bit g...

Re: Have the Glencoe midges been that bad this year?

So basically the midges seem to be horrific, this is literally the first time in my life I have been chased off by midges. Tried to camp at Loch Quioch a few weeks ago. The wind died at about 8pm and we had to abandon all hope and drove back to Glasgow. Glencoe/GlenEtive seem to be midge-tastic. I w...

Looking for mountain bikable munros suggestions.

I've just done my 2nd munro on a mtn bike (Carn na Caim + Mt Keen) and am heading down the rabbit hole. Looking for some suggestions on sane munros to bike. I don't mind some pushing/carrying, but things like the Tower Ridge are out. Mostly because I hate walking down, and skiing conditions are rubb...

Re: Trail /hiking trainers

I'm on my 3rd set of North Face Hedgehogs. Quick simply the best walking shoe I've every had. That said I've not got this year's model and the reviews are scary. https://www.thenorthface.co.uk/shop/en-gb/tnf-gb/mens-hedgehog-fastpack-ii-waterproof-shoes-46am?variationId=BQW Have North Face once more...
