Re: The silliest sign you've seen on a walk?

Speed limit.jpg

Weirdly specific speed limit there! 25mph was obviously deemed way to dangerous!

Re: Running the West Highland Way

Hi, I did the race a few year’s back and it’s a good runnable trail. Well marked and easy to follow. Milngavie to Balmaha is easy running on great trails and relatively fast progress until Connich hill, then a bit of a scratty descent (which I think has been improved). Cant’ vouch for the scenery as...

Re: Paps of Jura

Did these the other week. Beinn Shiantaidh is the worst of the three if you don't like the loose stuff. The other two have sneaky routes up them avoiding almost all of the scree/loose boulders, but there are a few unavoidable bits. I very carefully followed the WH route line on my phone and it did a...

Re: Summit / Munro Camping suggestions

A Mhaighdean.jpg

A' Mhaigdean in the Fisherfields was a cracker. The most remote Munro too (arguably)

Lovely dry area of flat ground just north of the summit.

Re: Campervans

but they all have as much right to be there as me so it's just something I take account of when I plan my journey times. A very salient point sir. No-one is questioning anyone's right to be there, so that is a strawman response. What is being questioned is the level of consideration for other peopl...

Re: Campervans

I love seeing the campervans. Lots of folk exploring and enjoying being in the highlands. Good for them, I hope they all have a fantastic time. Of course some of them get in my way, when I'm out and about, but so do busses, lorries, horse boxes cattle trucks, bicycles and mopeds, but they all have a...

Re: Top Man

I met him last November on the summit of Beinn Sgulaird. He immediately told me how old he was and what he was up to, and asked if I'd walk with him back down, as his daughter didn't like him out on his own. I must confess my first reaction was "yikes, this is going to take ages!" but I wa...

Re: Cuillin advice?

If you get good weather, I would like to shout out for Bruach na Frithe as a first Cuillin. We went up it because it is one of the easiest, but having been up them all, I still think it is the best viewpoint and you suddenly pop up onto the ridge, with the whole main ridge curving before you. Unfor...

Re: Munro Round Compleat in Knoydart (plus flying pigs)

Thanks for the nice comments :-) Many congratulations on your compleation, and your report. Hopefully next month I should be able to join you as a cpmpleationist but, as they say: never count your Munros until they are bagged. Good luck with that. Just had a nose at the one you left for last, and it...

Re: Stùc a' Chròin from the south east - a brilliant route!

Good to see this, as I was wondering what the southern routes were like. I'll be giving this route a go!

Well that'll give me something to do tomorrow lunch time :D

Giraffe bagging that is, not putting traffic cones on statues!

Re: Sgurr na Lapaich, Glen Affric

I remember looking across to this one from Tom a Choinnich and worrying that I'd missed one out doing the Mullardoch Round, so I'm rather glad it's not one. That said there seems to be plenty of Munros that seem less worthy! How long did it take you to do the Mullardoch round? I’m in awe of a...
