Re: Fisherfield 6 - summit camp & inversion on A' Mhaighdean

What a fantastic effort carrying the camping gear around that route. What a stunning trip it was apart from the sinking near the end. I do remember that section where there was a lot of water channels under the grass, I done it in darkness and it was ropey in there . What a relief when i got back t...

Re: Fisherfield 6 - summit camp & inversion on A' Mhaighdean

Great report Jim and thanks for sharing your lovely photos; may I ask what camera you use? Many thanks, Andy Thanks Andy. All photos were taken on my Huawei P30 Pro phone, which I've had and served me well for the past 3 years. I often imagine what my photos might be like with a decent SLR, but it'...

Re: Fisherfield 6 - summit camp & inversion on A' Mhaighdean

Fab report; I walked in from Incheril to do A Mhaighdean in similar conditions and that was tough enough for me. So, hats off. Thank you. Any trip to A'Mhaighdean from any direction is a big enough undertaking. At least you missed out the bog :D Goodness, I did enjoy your story and photos. That was...

Re: Highlander report of the month winners - June 2023

Thank you so much Helen and Paul, and to Highlander of course. I spend so much time reading trip reports on Walkhighlands it's lovely to be able to contribute when conditions go in your favour. Thanks to everyone who has read and commented.

Cheers,
James

Re: Newtonmore 4 by train?

Nice one Kev, I did these 4 as a bike and hike in absolutely howling weather. Still scarred to this day . https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=101411

I will return some day in conditions like you had. Cracking effort

Re: Fisherfield 6 - summit camp & inversion on A' Mhaighdean

Nice one Jim. Fisherfield was my 276-280 on round 1 & the whole day was in mist, so you can imagine how poor it compares. But I did it again on Jubilee weekend last year, and got the A’Mhaighdean sunrise & Slioch inversion. My favourite hike. I go in from Incheril where Slioch starts, past ...

Re: Fisherfield 6 - summit camp & inversion on A' Mhaighdean

What a great read! Surely the report of the month right there. And how lucky with the weather. You've whetted my appetite for this. I've yet to do the Fisherfields and did my first tent on hill adventure last week, bagging Ladhar Beinn as my 200th. Your photos are braw. Thank you kindly and well do...

The weather does the route full justice - and the photos superb.
I suspect the boggy trousers were just karma for having such a great time.

Congratulations

Hahaha that made me laugh John, thanks! Cheers for reading, glad you enjoyed the photos.

Re: Fisherfield 6 - summit camp & inversion on A' Mhaighdean

Yes, what an outstanding trip. The high temperatures will have been energy-sapping but worth enduring for such incredibly superb conditions. As you say, photos, however good, can never do justice to the reality, but it's nice to have such a fine collection to bring back the memories! Nice to...
