If Jim was with me we probably would have attempted it but given I was on my own I thought I should be sensible and return on the WH alternative route.

na, Jim would have encouraged an early retreat back to the digs for drink and Scrabble

Re: Kintyre Way vs anything else

Hey Frances, I've done both and would agree with the 'underwhelming' description of the Kintyre Way. A group of us did it last May and while it was an enjoyable amble, the views were limited and many of the forest tracks had been widened to accommodate construction traffic for windfarms and a power ...

Re: Moruisg..oops no missed true summit arghhhhh

You kept this wee faux pas a secret, Lou

Loved the JPS comment and the new pic Brian. There's a particularly fine selection of club weekends next year. All top secret just now but if you look at my blue dots it will give you a few clues.

Re: Waterfalls near Dundee?

Regarding the Maspie Den near Falkland.

I was up there on Sunday and thought this would be an ideal spot for your plan. You can easily stand below the falls and receive a good safe soaking.

I'm heading up later in the week with a towel as I've now been nominated....

Re: Beinn Mhanach with a big THANK YOU

Usually your "guttered" at the end of the day...makes a change being at the start of it. Will you be rebooking the accomodation next year Jim???? Hey Brian, That's a scurrilous allegation, wasn't much drinking done at Crianlarich anyway, in bed by ten after cocoa and a rich tea bisc...

Re: Beinn Mhanach with a big THANK YOU

In Jim style we took the wrong turning at the start purely due to chatting and no requirement of the map !! why would you need to stop and look at a map !!!???? ( just jesting Jim !) And here was me thinking that was your role ! I supply the beauty, you bring the brains  I'll add my thanks as ...

Re: Torrin to Broadford

Thanks for your reply. You're probably right about the Tufty Club, a few hills under your belt is probably a better preparation, though it is a very busy road at Slig and the Green Cross Code man wasn't there when we tried to cross. :o

The Quiraing to the Storr

In the last episode we left our intrepid adventures on the cusp of the Quiraing. Would they make it to their destination? Would the gaiters finally come off? Most importantly would the burger van be open at the tourist car park at lunchtime ? Read on and all will be revealed…. The Long and Winding R...

Sligachan to Bla Bheinn

The penultimate day of our adventure again dawned bright and clear. After the usual car positioning (second vehicle now at Bla Bheinn) we crossed the road from the campsite (carefully looking and listening for traffic – I’m ex-Tufty Club) and over the much-photographed arched bridge into Glen Sligac...

Portree to Sligachan

Due to our being a bit behind schedule, our third full day continued after lunch from the campsite at Portree to Sligachan - a long day. Another Waterfall.JPG Passing through the village, busy with daytrippers, we reached the main road South passing a multitude of Bed and Breakfasts, all boasting ‘n...
