Re: Proof of the Earth's curvature on Ben Klibreck!(?)

Of course on the other axis you see it all the time, at least looking over the sea - think of Eabhal and the Lees standing up over the horizon from Skye, with all the rest of the North Uist land below the curve of it.

Re: The silliest sign you've seen on a walk?

The church near me doesn't want anyone climbing in their plantpots.

Re: The silliest sign you've seen on a walk?

To go with a mud pie? I hope that's true and not an April Fool, because I like it :D

Saved drafts not saving?

Twice in the last few days I've saved a draft only to go back the next day and find that it hasn't saved after all - the first time I thought it was just me being daft, but having had it happen once I'm pretty sure that yesterday I watched it go to the saved message... I realise that it's very diffi...

Re: Osprey

Any idea if the Loch Garten camera is still on the go? Last year's link doesn't work any more.

Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)

The first clue sounded like it might be the Orkney or Shetland mainland - not THE mainland, not the isle of anything - but it all looks far too mountainous for that.

Re: Interesting, but will it ever happen

It's not as weird as some of the suggestions that were made. Of course the last time the road was closed the landslips were round in Glen Kinglas!

Wether Law by a bad way

With White Meldon done, Wether Law's marker was starting to look a bit lonely on the map - I'd looked at it a few times, but it always looked a bit harder to reach than its distance from the road would suggest, and so I'd gone and looked at somewhere else instead. The 12:20 bus from Edinburgh was th...

Creag Bheag and Hanoverian history

I had thought about trying to get over to the mouth of the Caledonian Canal on Sunday morning, but it would have meant a very early start when I was already quite tired. So a fairly leisurely hotel breakfast, and then a dash through the town because I'd thought the Ardersier bus was at 9:10 rather t...

Strathpeffer and Cnoc Mor

(This was the same day as The Road to Errogie , but such a completely different walk that I've written a completely different report.) The sun came out on the stroke of two, as I was finally on the bus back to Inverness, although there were still some wonderful cloudscapes hanging over the Kessock B...

The Road to Errogie

When I came up to Inverness I had my eye on a tiny epic, picking up as many as possible of a cluster of four subs to the south of Loch Ness, but having retreated after the first to go somewhere with more than a few metres of view, I'll just call the report after the tune instead - I hadn't really ta...

Re: Skye trail transportation

Where are you seeing only a morning service? The last one seems to be 18:45 through the week and 18:15 on Saturday.

(https://www.stagecoachbus.com/timetable-pdf?ServiceId=XIBO057A.O might get you the full timetable, although I'm always dubious about links to downloads)

Re: Moorfoot hills advice

That does look nasty - I missed out Blackhope Scar and went straight up the valley track to Bowbeat, so I'd have missed it even if it was there. That might work as an alternative, if the gates on the track are openable - either an out and back to Blackhope Scar from Bowbeat, or try the track up the ...

Re: Moorfoot hills advice

It's a long time since I was there, but I don't remember tall deer type fences, only the ordinary strands of wire kind that a lot of dogs could get through or under - if that helps.

Re: The silliest sign you've seen on a walk?

The bridge is like this diversion from one side of the road to the other in Glen Tilt.
