Re: 3 boring Beinns from Linn of Dee

Kinshusrst Kid wrote:Oh I forgot !. Why use a bicycle? These mountains should be savoured. Walk em!

I did walk them. Only used the bike to cycle through the glen, as many people do judging by the bike park at the river.

You'll be thankful for the bike on the way out! It's a really nice cycle in and out, good trails and fairly easy going.

Re: 3 boring Beinns from Linn of Dee

Haven’t been on Bhreac or Chaoruinn yet but no way is Ben a’Bhuird boring, you’ve just approached it from the wrong side. And surely you enjoyed the navigational challenge anyway? I suggest when you go in for Ben Avon, you take the detour back over Bhuird and down past Slugain Lodge. It takes forev...

Re: 3 boring Beinns from Linn of Dee

I think the only boring thing is the person writing the report. If you researched the places you go with regards to history , geology and ecology youd find the Cairngorms anything but boring. I guess if your only interest is ticking off a list then thats up to you 😴😴😴 Wow that's a shockingly person...

Re: Climbing up another 2 before I fall over the hill

Enjoyed that John. We were there 2 years ago today and saw diddly squat, which was a shame as the views are quite spectacular. When you get round to your next visit - Bhrotain & co, I would recommend tackling them from Linn of Dee and using bikes, you then get to see what a superb hill Bhrotain...

Climbing up another 2 before I fall over the hill

$matches[2] "Oh no, he's back in the Cairngorms!" I hear you all cry out. "I hope he likes these ones and doesn't start a controversy again!!!!!"  Well since that controversy I've had to take some countermeasures to ensure I get past the hoards baying for blood. I've...

Re: Trailblazing a route from Cluanie to Loch Quoich munros

Def worth considering Altekacker, I think if you're really fit and keen, or fancy a wild camp, you could throw in Sgurr a'Mhaoraich to this route as well. I thought there might be a bothy at Alltbeithe but I think it's actually a new farmhouse or something to do with the hydro project.

Re: I've got 99 problems but Beinn Sgritheall ain't one

Look forward to that report Black Panther. Lee and I saw nothing on Fhada and took the traditional route along the top of the cliffs so will be interesting to read about the ridge route.

This was the steepest hill I've been on for a while, but I like that kind of terrain. 😊

Trailblazing a route from Cluanie to Loch Quoich munros

$matches[2] This summer's WH meet had been arranged for Ratagan and Lee and I had the weekend free so booked up to go. The problem was, we had competed all the Glen Shiel munros at the last Ratagan meet a couple of years ago so I started to look about for something else to do. I'd read about the Lo...

Re: WALKHIGHLANDS SUMMER MEET, RATAGAN. JULY 12/13 2019

Planning one of my slightly off book trips and thinking of mountain biking into Gleouriach and Spidean Mialach from the Cluanie Inn on the Saturday. I remember the trail to the start of the South Glen Shiel Ridge being ok, anyone got knowledge of the trail through to the north side of these munros? ...

Torridon Panorama from Beinn Liath Mhor

$matches[2] Manda, Lee and I were late arrivals at the Walk Highlands meet in Torridon on Friday so were keen to get out on Saturday to make the most of a predicted weather window over lunchtime. Some were keener than others, Manda had to come kick me out of bed at 7am as Lee and her had been up fo...
