Aconcagua - guide recommendation ?

Hi folks
My wife and I are trying a few big adventures as well as continuing our enjoyment of the Scottish Hills. Has anyone out there done Aconcagua and if yes can you recommend a guide ?
Thanks
David

short but cracking day, lost my phone, help ?

Simple report but first thing to say, lost my iPhone 12 max coming off Toll C, no path so no chance I don't think, of finding it. Somewhere on the bottom half of the decent to the landrover track and my line was just to the left (east) of the dam, by about 75m or so. Photos therefore non-existent. T...

Fisherfield 5 anticlockwise from Shenavall

First thing to say is congrats to the Welsh lady who compleated yesterday on A' Mhaigdean. Well done, a big week having done Fisherfield in two trips from Poolewe and Ben Alder also in thelast week ! Hope you enjoyed some celebratory drinks last night. Second thing to say is that these mountains cou...

Re: All der six in a day, bike and hike !

Nice report. I'd been considering these for an epic bike n hike, just wasn't sure if it was going to be one of my more adventurous plans that end up going horribly wrong, but 8 hrs walking with a couple of hours cycling sounds dooable to me. Just need to wait for a good weather window. Cheers, John...

Re: All der six in a day, bike and hike !

Nice one! This really is one of the finest places in the Highlands. The cycle in really gets one out into wilderness. I see you did the round in your customary double quick time! It took me a good bit longer, and I cycled out the previous day, and back the following morning - my excuse is that I in...

All der six in a day, bike and hike !

Distances are for the walk only. 15km bike in (1.5hrs) the shoogly bridge way and c14km back on the direct path (1hr 10mins) which is more technical but shorter and has less up and down for sure. There is a metal hay bale holder at the left turn for the narrower track, on the way in from Dalwhinnie....

Six from Alltbeithe Hostel (not 8 sadly)

So with no boatman this year and having the 8 munros on the southside of Mullardoch to do as part of the last three big walks to complete my round, tried to plot a different course. Hostel, then to two groups of three and over to Tom and Toll was the plan, ideally to get back to the car in time for ...

Affric 8 from Alltbeithe ? How long ?

Hi folks. Had been planning to get the boat up from Mullardoch to do the southern group of 8 - boat worked fine for the northern group although not the cheapest transport I've ever taken. Boat man is out of action this year so heading to the Hostel instead, will walk in the 14km, stay overnight and ...

helluva long trip this one

So, out for our second journey of the year to tidy up a few that we'd missed from previous trips. After this trip I'd be at 260 with a clear and simple plan involving fewer long car journeys and contributions to Rishi Sunak via fuel taxes. This was Day 1 of three so didn't want a massive walk and th...

Re: Bit more distance and ascent than advertised !!

IMG_3779[1].JPG Just for a bit of balance, the person we spoke to at the wind farm was perfectly polite when we did Ben Klibreck at the end of May. It was clear to us that we weren't going to be able to park there, but he was happy to point us in the direction of the other layby a little further up...

Re: Bit more distance and ascent than advertised !!

Ascent - 1149m I think you maybe ought to be a bit more suspicious of your GPS readings! I've got a Suunto Ambit 3 Peak and it's accurate to 1m -3m on the tops we have done recently. I agree it looks a long way off and had same convo with my son (who was adamant that munro book says 750m ascent). T...

Bit more distance and ascent than advertised !!

Used the lay by up the hill from the Wind Farm (towards Crask) sit so that's an extra 0.5km each way and some metres to the ascent which partly explains the difference but if you're using Naismith or similarly trying to plan your time, suggest using this data. Ascent - 1149m Indeed you start at just...
