Have I missed something with maps or am I being stupid!

I know the maps have all been upgraded recently, have they lost the ability to have a locator on them? I always used to have my WH maps open because it seemed to use alot less battery than OS maps. But today on my first walk of the year on a Marilyn near Contin, even when I had a good signal it didn...

Seana Mheallan, my hill of 2022

Well 2022 was going to be my year for knocking off lots of Munros, now that Covid restrictions were fully lifted and I was only working part time. I am not geared up/skilled enough for serious winter walking and it is not the dog's favourite thing either, so I started the year off with lower hills t...

Yet another route up Meall Doire Faid and Beinn Enaigair

Well it was another showery day but the best weather looked to be further north, so I decided to do this combination of hills. There are several reports for this pair, but nobody seems to take the same route, needless to say, I thought I should try a different one too, which I was wondering whether ...

Càrn Gorm again from Craskie

As seems often the case this year, I was again following in the footsteps of WWK's excellent report . There are only a few comments to add to that report especially since it was a pretty dreich day I did it on. There had been quite a bit of rain over the last couple of weeks, so when I pulled up to ...

Re: Fannichs Lodge/Estate

Looking into bagging the Fannich munro's from the south, anybody got any information about the Fannichs Lodge/Estate? Is it accesible or not? I'm car dependent since I've got to travel from the Netherlands and rent a car so a bicycle is not really an option. Hi - I went out to Fannich Lodge a year ...

Torr Achilty route - cow free & mainly undergrowth free

20221124_130339.jpg I have been interested in this hill for a while, I see it frequently as I am driving through Contin each time I go out for the more northern hills, it is also pretty much the closest Marilyn to the Black Isle (that is not on the Black Isle). Shortly after moving up here, we went...

Carn Glas-Choire - not worth the bike hassle!

Just back from our summer holidays and wanted a gentle start to the second half of the hill walking season, so after looking on walkhighlands, we plumped for this hill. Several reports suggested taking bikes as there was a track most of the way up so that is what we did! With hindsight this was a bi...

Re: Going loopy on Stac na Cathaig

It is many amazing walks around here, but always worried about cows :D and now crazy deer after our Little Wyvis trip (we got attacked by a deer - sheep combo while we were crossing on the farm I think I got chased by the same deer up there even without the dog about a month ago. It wanted through t...

I wondered about that too, but not sure how far I could get out that way, given the gate timing issues!

Two wee ones at the end of Glen Strathfarrar

Still working on rehabbing my knee and had a half day to do some hill walking so decided to try these two hills in my favourite Glen. I had a late start due to an early work commitment but decided to take the risk that the gate would still be open because it was a Thursday outside the school holiday...
