Re: A storm in a Cromarty teacup

Gordie12 wrote:Hi DP

That looked like a good short walk.

Didn't really understand your comment about poo bins as I noticed a lot of tree branches in your photos

I took a photo specially for you a few months back on Mull, but maybe you missed it?

A storm in a Cromarty teacup

It was a spur of the moment decision to do this walk. Weather looked good for Cromarty and Moira had a narrow time frame to fit something in. We had done it a few years before with Liz and Roger and knew it was worth repeating. We parked where WH suggests and headed in the direction of the South Sut...

They seem to be calm unflappable types, even with unexpected visitors.

Re: Why don't more folk use bog free route to Fannichs?

Bonxie1 wrote:Great report and helpful as im thinking of that exact route - with a bike!! Fantastic pics, thank you...

Thanks for bringing back memories of a great day out with Kath - who's sadly no longer with us.

All the best for when you do it - a bike will certainly speed things up for you! 8)

Alpaca surprise

Last time I did this walk was February 2012. It's fixed in my memory as my father had just died two weeks before and we were moving house in five days time. So I did the logical thing and went for a walk with friends, which was just what I was needing. Now, 12 years later almost to the day, I decide...

Re: Nessie where are you?

Great stuff dogplodder as usual. Love your reports from this area. Re. the question about the best views, from loch level the view from Dores beach is hard to beat, but from up high there are better views, especially on the south side. It's a great area, so quiet and rarely visited. Thanks ST. Yes,...

With the view towards Meall Fuar-mhonaidh I think it's a strong contender. Somewhere I've got a sunset one but annoyingly can't find it.

Nessie where are you?

Dores beach and Torr woods is a favourite walk which we've done many times and depending on the weather and season it's always different. We used to park by the Dores Inn but now we turn off the B862 at a sign for Dores beach parking, crossing a small bridge and turning sharp right into what was the...

Dogs on Mull

I've a friend going to Mull next week which had us chatting about it and me looking at old photos, bringing back a flood of memories. Pete and I had a week there in 2014 along with the dogs. In 2005 we had adopted Jack at 9 months and Tess at 15 months. Over the intervening years they were up many h...
