Re: It's a dog's life on Mount Blair

She sounds an excellent companion for walking up and down hills. I'm not sure they're all like that. 8) She came from a keeper in Glen Esk and being a typical food obsessed lab was easy to train. She's pretty tuned to me and knows what I expect but can be a bit excitable around other people if they...

Re: Astonishing Assynt: Two nights at Suileag & a Canisp cli

These photos are gorgeous and given the weather you had do fair justice to a stunning part of the planet. I went up Canisp by the easier route but can see that, apart from the sudden reveal of Sulven about two thirds of the way up, you went by the more scenic route! :D

Gremlins at work.... or was it the Green Lady?

Something very strange just happened. I had loaded up my photos and was adding some text when suddenly everything became jumbled with some photos missing and others not relating to the text I'd put them with. It's frustrating as sorting it out is time consuming and sometimes it's easier to scrap it ...

It's a dog's life on Mount Blair

Descending into Glen Isla from Glas Maol, the rounded shape of Mount Blair appeared through the mist, which despite what the forecast said had lingered all day. Mount Blair seemed an overly grand name for a lowly Graham, but it nudged a memory that one of my kids had climbed it, which I hadn't. So w...

Need to go back to Brodie to see 100+ kinds of daffodil

With Pete's mobility difficulties I'm looking for places where we can start off together and when he's had enough he can return to the car while I complete the route with the dog. This one's level paths were perfect for that and had the added advantage of a place to go for lunch after. We turned off...

I award you the "wood stack of the year photo" for 2023 (good low sunlight on your back, plenty blue sky and a fair old wood pile - very impressive)

An accolade which goes some way to mitigate what happened shortly after.

That looked like a good short walk.

Didn't really understand your comment about poo bins as I noticed a lot of tree branches in your photos

I took a photo specially for you a few months back on Mull, but maybe you missed it?

A storm in a Cromarty teacup

It was a spur of the moment decision to do this walk. Weather looked good for Cromarty and Moira had a narrow time frame to fit something in. We had done it a few years before with Liz and Roger and knew it was worth repeating. We parked where WH suggests and headed in the direction of the South Sut...

They seem to be calm unflappable types, even with unexpected visitors.

Re: Why don't more folk use bog free route to Fannichs?

Bonxie1 wrote:Great report and helpful as im thinking of that exact route - with a bike!! Fantastic pics, thank you...

Thanks for bringing back memories of a great day out with Kath - who's sadly no longer with us.

All the best for when you do it - a bike will certainly speed things up for you! 8)

Alpaca surprise

Last time I did this walk was February 2012. It's fixed in my memory as my father had just died two weeks before and we were moving house in five days time. So I did the logical thing and went for a walk with friends, which was just what I was needing. Now, 12 years later almost to the day, I decide...

Re: Nessie where are you?

Great stuff dogplodder as usual. Love your reports from this area. Re. the question about the best views, from loch level the view from Dores beach is hard to beat, but from up high there are better views, especially on the south side. It's a great area, so quiet and rarely visited. Thanks ST. Yes,...

With the view towards Meall Fuar-mhonaidh I think it's a strong contender. Somewhere I've got a sunset one but annoyingly can't find it.
