River walk to remember what sounds unlikely but is true

Moira and I first walked this route in May 2013 when I was trying out a new camera lens and what I ended up with was a series of shots of flora and fauna not suitable for a trip report. Re: A Walk In The Ochils Recalling Memories of Glen.

Only just seen this and what a handsome boy Glen was! Seeing your photos reminds me of my black and yellow lab duo, now departed but never forgotten. Also love the wild flower photos too. Your new camera is giving good results! :D

First hill of the year on a very windy Tom Bailgeann

I had hurt my knee walking 12 km on snow and ice with spikes on, which the physio said puts more strain on the joints, so was under instructions to "pace myself and not do any hills yet". I did what I was told, sticking to shorter distances on the flat and after six weeks the knee had impr...

Re: Stac na Cathaig between the showers

Looks a bonny interlude between the showers. Was the gate you came to open? We've twice been up to find gate locked and had we climbed adjacent fence no way of getting dog through. :? Worth looking closer at it. It was open but the chain and padlock had been placed to make it look locked. I was all...

Re: Live entertainment from otters in Caledonian canal

Just beautiful, I see I shall have to widen my Cover walks to the south   We do occasionally get otters in the Cromarty Firth, but I've never had a camera, or phone, with me when I've seen them, but agree with BP they are excessively cute :D :D You really should venture a bit further sout...

gld73 wrote:The otters in Inverness were on BBC' s Winterwatch this year; your timing was obviously as good as the BBC wildlife department  I've still to see them either in the river or the canal!

Missed that - but what a treat it was to see them in the flesh! :D

We're so well off for bonny places it's made travel restrictions that much easier to live with. 8)

Inverness could be called "The Venice of the far north". We have the river, the canal, the loch and the seaside. Just need the gondoliers!

Gondoliers in kilts maybe?

Live entertainment from otters in Caledonian canal

With second lockdown firmly upon us and running out of local walks we had not done too many times already we settled on this canal and river circuit we had enjoyed doing the first time. Only this time I was keen we did it the way WH suggested, along the Kinmylies side of the canal rather than the Da...
