Re: Gear Review: Backpacking Tents for Two

Agree Marty for 2019 tents/ shelters MLD, Tarptent....etc...... Aliexpress. Forget Terra Nova... overpriced and antiquated features. They don’t even come near what the US Cottage Companies offer in features and value. Terrible customer service guaranteed. Big Agnes ok 3 seasons and sensible choice o...

Re: Going from a boot to a walking shoe; advice please

I’ve been wearing only Trail Shoes for years. Finally gave my clumpy rigid boots to the Charity shop.....yes liberating. But was used to wearing trainers anyway Never Goretex as take so long to dry out once wet. You get used to walking through ‘the wet stuff’ In the 3 pleasant seasons the Trail Shoe...

Re: Sleeping bag advice please

With that price limit, you won’t get top spec and they will weigh more. Also more bulky to pack and probably less breathable as using lower quality materials. As starters under £100 check out Alpkits range, ‘Mountain Ghost’ synthetics. They do have a narrow fit tho’. Full zip so can open fully when ...

Re: new backpacking tent advice

Glad you’re sorted.
Coincidence that as there were 2 newish looking Elixirs camped nearby me in El Chalten/Fitzroy.
Winds extreme every day and neither Elixirs we’re moving whilst other tents ‘taking off’!!!
Might be heavier but.... if they work and are cheaper... a bonus!

Re: Trail shoes with decent grip

Oh, and priority that I forgot to mention.. NEVER Goretex or they will never dry out!!
After wading rivers if you keep the trail shoes on, they soon dry out.

Used mine at 5,000 mts in Peru Hubbas in Winds of Patagonia at the moment are the only ones withstanding those forces... solid A lot of folk don’t like mesh but guaranteed great ventilation to stop condensation Pitch sensibly... they work ...
