Re: Ben More, 281 down, 1 to go!

 that’s very exciting! Good luck on last Munro. What a journey. thank you. It certainly is, we have had some adventures right enough! Good luck Mrs. Santa! I seem to remember that you commented on one of my trips (up Beinn Heasgarnich, I think) a couple of years ago that we were both heading ...

Re: Ben More, 281 down, 1 to go!

Agreed. But the worst midges I have ever encountered were in Torridon.

Ben More, 281 down, 1 to go!

We planned a 3 night two day trip to Mull so that we could have a choice of two possible days for the climb of Ben More. We camped at the brand new campsite at Port nan Gael, which was excellent. Normally we prefer a wild camp, but really there is nowhere suitable up Ben More, and we did not want to...

Re: Parking in or near Oban

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. It's still possible to park long-term at Tesco, but we have booked into MacQueen's which was very efficient, I just sent them an email and got one back very quickly. It's a wee bit out from the middle of town, but with 2 vehicles that's not a problem. It w...

Parking in or near Oban

We're heading to Mull on Sunday evening, the 4 of us will be arriving in Oban in 2 vehicles from different directions but only taking one vehicle on the ferry. I've not had any luck finding parking for the other vehicle. Calmac says you can pay to park at the train station but ScotRail website isn't...

John

Currently the plan is to compleat on Bynack More, likely in October so that various family members can be there. Will probably be our usual lashing rain and gales!

Re: Beinn Fhada and a'Glas Bheinn with a camp

Thanks for posting this report. It reminds me of two super days when I stayed at Shiel Bridge and climbed these two hills on two consecutive days doing that "long walk in" twice! One of my memories is seeing dozens of huge dragon flies (your photo reminded me of them). I also remember all...

I thought it might be chickweed wintergreen but it's the wrong colour. Can anyone give me an ID please?

Superb Beinn Sgritheall and a rare day walk for the Santas

Over the past four days we had climbed 5 munros in scorching heat with 3 wild camps, and today was the day for Beinn Sgritheall. To be honest this hill had struck a bit of fear into our hearts. "unrelentingly steep, then even steeper", "not a hill for a bad day", "great view...

Beinn Fhada and a'Glas Bheinn with a camp

over the past two days we had climbed Beinn Liath Mhor, Sgurr Ruadh and Maol Chean-dearg in hot sun and were somewhat kn***ered. After a good night sleep, a shower and a change of clothes at Glen Shiel campsite, we were - still pretty exhausted, so we decided to do these two over two days and miss o...
