Excellent - thanks for replying!

Spotted this ruthless looking beast hiding in the granite atop Broad Cairn yesterday.

It was very large - almost as big as my little finger, and looked for all the world like one of those strange wasps from south east Asia. Anyone have a clue what it is?

Well it just has to be Braigh Coire Chruinn-Bhalgain. Love the meaning too!

But have always had a soft spot for Braeriach.

The fresh, sweet scent of Scots Pine and heather. Most noticeably in Rothiemurchus but occurs in lots of places. For me, that smell is a sensory trigger for a happy day

Good to see you made it on to Cruachan after we caught you trying to follow us - thankfully before too much descent! Still don't know how you both had the energy for that, we were knackered after the two!

Will have to go back for these two on a better day to see what we missed!

This topic has come up before but I still can't resist it - it's just really fascinating.

We haven't even managed to discuss whether it was truly physically possible (by some fluke of atmospheric refraction) for someone to have seen Norway from Ben MacDui - can anyone remember that discussion?

Spotted an interesting BBC news story where scientists managed to identify certain conditions where the brain becomes disorientated and mistakes yourself for being another presence close by - certainly likely in the conditions on places like the MacDui plateau. http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/v...
