Anyone can be caught out and perhaps getting away with it for a long time can breed a little complacency. Having hiked around hill and dale for over thirty years without serious incident I perhaps fell into this category. In early June I was walking the Pennine Way alone and had covered about 200 mi...

Re: Hello all!

The Arran Coastal Path is a fantastic walk. Surprisingly rough going on the Southern part. Harvey’s do an excellent map I used. Enjoy and let us know how you get on.

Just look in the Walks tab and drill down to the area you are interested in. Plenty walks for all abilities. Enjoy.

Re: John Muir Way Recommendations

I really enjoyed the North Berwick to Dunbar section. Good bus service back to Dunbar too.

Re: Hi there!

Bear in mind the restrictions on camping in the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park in summer.

Re: Haddington and East Lothian

John Muir Way between North Berwick and Dunbar is a great day out. Bus back to NB. Celebrate with lobster and chips at the NB lobster shack and ice cream from Alladas. Doesn’t get better!

Good choice however remember your boots will require a ‘valet’ after use!

Re: Arran Coastal Way - water sources

I would add that the south end of the island on the coastal path is stunning but pretty rough going so give yourself plenty time. In reflection I would have got this out the way for a more relaxed end of week.

Re: Haddington and East Lothian

Just check out the walls pages for East Lothian . Gullane to North Berwick along the beach is nice. Nicer from Aberlady by dogs are not allowed due to ground nesting birds.

Re: Arran Coastal Way - water sources

I did the coastal path two years ago. You should pass through or near civilisation to omit the need to drink from puddles.

Re: Introducing............ Frank!

You’ve done Frank justice there John. I wish I had a Frank in my life. But the hills are still there and always will be. You know them.
